I saw Gort's post about capturing software and remembered that I had been looking for a way to grab a screenshot of a dvd playing on my computer. Is there a easy way to do this? When I try "printscreen/paste" into PSD the image is just black.

Most DVD playback applications have a screen capture function built in. My copy of WinDVD does; I can setup the target directory for dumping, then pause a movie where I want it and take the capture which is then stored as a BMP. If your DVD playback app doesn't have a capture feature, then find on that does or try out a screen capture utility like SnagIt.
