I have the same problem on my generic mp3 player. I'm listening to 30-minute long audio lessons of Chinese language, and my player doesn't save playback location when turned off..
I didn't know there was the same problem with iPod, i guess it's just a design flaw. In future they will probably use progressive fast forward speeds (the longer you hold, the faster it goes). |

I've got one of the old ipods, so this works for me at least.
while you are playing a song:
just click on the button in the middle of the wheel and the small time indicator on the timeline turns into a square, then scroll with the wheel where you wanna go on the 'timeline', and press the middle button again. bang! quick as hell. _________________ Gecko

In your case, you could just slice up that 30-minute file into smaller chunks with any audio editor. I use Mp3 Surgeon for stuff like that so I don't have to decompress/recompress anything. |
