Save up a little extra money and get a Wacom. Don't buy any other kind of tablet. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Hi,
I wouldn't just from the start advise someone not to buy anything else.
How can you know if there isn't something at least equally good?
Unless you tried it.
From looking and reading
I'd go for geniusnet thing if i'd have to choose between the two.
But of course wacom probably IS the best. |

if u do a search using the little magnifying glass in the top right of the site - you'll see that other people have used the others and always end up buying a wacom because after a couple of months use they find that something has broken on their other cheap tablets...
there's a reason why professionals use Wacom tablets and home users who know no different buy the cheap alternative
when i bought my first wacom back in '92 it wasn't until '97 that i had to change the stylus because it wasn't working any more and that was from using it 8hrs+ a day 5-6 days a week for 5 years! i used to take it into work and use it instead of the mouse because i found it easer and faster to work with (and the ppl i worked for were too cheap to buy one ) |

Both the Trust and MouseTablet tablets use batteries in their pens. WACOM pens work without one. That may not seem like a big deal, and it isn't if you only use your tablet 10 minutes a day. But that battery starts to feel heavy after an hour.
Neither of these tablets have tilt support. WACOM Intuos tablets do (tilt means that if you tilt your pen, the brush reacts like it would if you tilted your pen in real life.)
Pretty much all the artwork you see on these forums (and any of the other big CG forums) were done with WACOM tablets. There are years of documented satisfaction with their tablets.
If the cost is keeping you back, you can always buy from ebay. WACOM also sells refurbished tablets for reduced price (plus a one-year warranty!).
And no, no one here is affiliated with wacom. Most have just used a tablet enough to know what they're talking about. _________________ QED, sort of. |

Is this aiming at something I wrote?
Sorry if you understood something wrong.
I don't really get the meaning of this a little harsh reaction.
Maybe it is my bad english that is giving me just the impression?
He wanted to know 1. which of the two might me the better one, and 2. if it is worth the money.
There is also no doubt or question to me that the wacom is probalbly the best as beeing an owner of a intuos myself.
That is why I wrote:"But of course wacom is probably the best." |

I am using a Wacom 6x8, but also have a Genius 12x12 resting on top of a shelf, unconnected and gathering dust. Genius tablets may have improved, but the one I had (connects via the keyboard port) had a cursor that wavers and quite useless for producing accurate work. |

haha, I'm sorry if it sounded harsh. That wasn't my intention at all.
I was merely trying to acknowledge any suspicions someone new to the board might have and to dismiss them. So, in short, it was probably my bad english, not yours. :D _________________ QED, sort of. |

OK. But I can only afford an A6 size WACOM tablet for now. Should I choose it or should I try one of the two bigger models I mentioned above.
PS: I've never used a tablet before and I'm a total beginner in that field and that's why I wonder if it would be better to start with a cheaper brand just to know if it'll work for me? |

A6 is pretty small. My experience is that you get along with a small tablet, but after a while you really start wanting to get a bigger one.. I have an A5 now and I wish I had an A4 after using one for some time at school. Being able to make big strokes makes a huge difference. |

it all depends on how u paint to what size tablet you need - i do fine on an A6 one because i use my wrist to draw.. |

You should save your money, until you have enough for a A5 wacom. if you buy now this cheap products you'll be dissapointed and get a wrong impression of using a real graphictablet.
even i used two cheap tablets until i bought a wacom, and both of them suck like hell before they broke after 2 weeks ![Embarassed](images/smiles/icon_redface.gif) _________________ *
