The degree to which the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection determines how shiny something is. The more the 2 are different, the more matte. But viewing angle matters as well. The lower the angle of the visual ray, the more reflective a surface is. I think it is called the Fresnel effect. It is very important. Look at any surface, even a very matte one, at a very low angle and you will see the shine.

I had last monday an exam on optics, so... the anlge of incidence always equals the angle of reflection. There are some nasty equations Fresnel wrote that determine the amount of energy that is transmited and reflected from light.
If you watch some graphics about this equations, you will note that the reflection coeficient is higher than the transmition one when the angle of incidence is very big (taking like 0 when it incides normally on a surface).
There are a lot of other considerations, conclusions, etc but this post is already quite boring Razz

After spending all day on this, I finished to find that my cheekbones ached like they were made of hot lead because all the time I'm working I have this strained look fixed on my face. not good!

It's been a while since I posted in here.

I am thinking of using cafepress.com to do a bunch of posters. Anyone have any experience with them?

Craig, the cafepress.com prints are not bad at all, even stickers, etc (highres files) look great, and really easy set up on their website, and keeping track of sales/organizing products. The best quality I have seen so far (as far as posters) is www.zazzle.com You should maybe test order one to see it for your self, which you can do before opening a premium shop with cafepress also.

Anyways, a lot of great work in here as always ! Here is my late night sketch

so my last post got majorly trumped by ax hv!!!! it's okay though, cause he's the man! he may have won this hand at poker, but I'm still in the game. Wink Thanks for the overpaint bud!

There have been a lot of cool coversations going on around here. Nice to see the brains at work behind the art.

Spooge, I never knew about the fresnel effect. Thanks for dropping a dime.

Ragnarok, seems like you know your shit. would be cool to here more. its certainly not boring to me. You got any links to resources regarding optics?

BrokenCow: hahahaha. good work too!

capt. fred, thats great!

Lingy-o, blue pixel: good work!

Back to the basics...

Capitaine Dub: Il tait une fois... l'espace is one of my favourite cartoon series as well. there were a few spin off from the series as i remember. one of them is about the human body and the main characters are in the team protecting the 'human' from the gems and diseases as well as keeping the body to function well...am i right?hehe.very cool.

spooge: lovely hovership painting and impressive easel as well! i would be happy to have one.
by the way, i wonder if the accd people contacted you for the alumni show..it doesnt seem your stuff is in there...:<
