Currenty I'm using a Geforce DDR Card which works decently but has some issues with 3dMax and Maya specifically in Win2k. I'm seriously thinking about getting the Oxygen VX1 card which of course is designed for 3d stuff. Anyone here use it? If so, how do you like it and have you had any hardware issues with Win2k or any other OS ?
thanks in advance for the info |

i'm thinking about getting this card too because it supports about every 3d software you could think of. i think 3dlabs probably has win2k drivers. i could be wrong though |

Hey guys, regarding the cards.
I've used one of the earlier Oxygen cards at work with 3DS Max at didn't like it. First, the fill rate was poor and the redraw was poor too. When you had a flatshaded model and wanted to have the polygon lines appear to delineate triangles (did I spell that right?) the lines would float above the model inaccurately. Again, I used an earlier card and was on a dual 300mhz PPro. As far as the GeForce DDR, I have the same card on my comp right now and works fine with 2.5 Maya. But, I've been told that 2.5 isn't meant for Win 2K but 2.5.2 and 3.0 are. I'm taking my site license and dongle home tommorrow so I'll test it further. Does this help?

Interesting, My Geforce DDR card has a hard time with Maya. But then again,I'm using Win2k so who knows.
I ordered the Oxygen VX1 Card anyways, since some friends told me it works great. Give me an email, and I'll let you know how it is. |

i'v always been a firm oxygen user, from the rendermules where i used VX1 to the actual animation boxes for XSI and SI|3D that hosted GMX or GVX1 boards.
though the GTS based cards are way impressive, and after testing deeply quadro and GTS based cards i moved the whole lot to em .
i'd suggest the VX1 only and exclusively to lightwavers over a gladiac (elsa makes the best GTS based cards for what regard openGL usage).
If you are using any other GTS card then an elsa brand use the Nvidia drivers and not manufacturers ones and have a look around for hardware sites (high end ones not freaky gaming ones plz =) to optimize the settings (default ones are stable enuf though).
I hope this helped, if anybody here is going to trust my word .. well get a GTS, it's a lot (a REAL lot) more performing then a VX1 under both NT4 SP6 and win2K.
