Spooge, nice to hear from you.
Thanks for the advice, i guess some real master have to say it to reach the crowd in here!
Wasssup mentioned some weeks ago that it is nice to see people as me still using just the round brush(mostly); i used a lot of those random stuff doing nothing but hiding my bad strokes and my misunderstanding of form(even for myself) back in the last years.
It took me some time to realize this bad habit; and after all my knowhow improved even faster.
btw, im searching for an Overpaint you did once for Sumaleth(girl in red clothes in front of a mecha) where my favorite of your quotations is postet:
"If something is buggin you about a pic, 99% of the time it is not color. It is drawing, then value, then composition, with color coming way down there."
http://forums.sijun.com/viewtopic.php?t=33061&start=0
I would appreciate if you or someone downloaded it once could upload it again!
Balistic, totally agree with your comment on Ryan Church!
Its hard to critisize people who are better(or more successful) than yourself without making enemies. But i guess to analize and judge everyones(including your own) artworks without being too gentle is a good way to train your skill.

Please don't "analize" mr. Church, he's just doing his job
It's hard to control the effects of dodge/burn type stuff, so I don't really like using them.. I want to pick the color, not pull some strings and see what the app comes up with. But that's just me.. It's a bit stupid to masturbate here among fellow artists as I'm guessing mr. Church's clients don't have a problem with the 'glow brush'. So as long as money keeps coming, he might as well keep using it (like Craig said about professional work).
edit: Duracel that's a cool one. |

really digging the thoughts around here about adding to the learning experiance and subtracting from potential cheeziness.
i hate to say that the cheezyness in this work is more than potential. if only i had checked this site an hour prior it wouldnt have the bandaid trash across it

Thx all! I appreciate your comments.
Mon, wow, its like Mon meets HPX, your rendering with this stylized pose rocks!
stephan, a bit stiff, but cool!
Mitsui, the boy in the background rocks, hehe.
I like this story, real robot meets comic-boy.
Misc, KieranYanner - good work, too.
a quick one:

Great stuff everybody!...and Thanks!
Spooge: I agree! I've been getting more and more dependant on color dodging and such over the past couple months which is really taking the fun out of painting. From this day forth no more color dodge/burn for Theo:

Wow, this is great! Looks like an high-tech civilisation is building some sort of pyramid.
This is an full-overpaint above a picture of a guy in another forum who wasn't happy about his "always brownish colors". So i aksed him, why he didn't try ... as mullins said, drawing and values are the things you should take care about, color is up to you.

Theo-w-p- cool concept and execution
Duracel- nice works you're rolling out. its kindov strange that the guy would be upset about his color choice when he has full control over it.
