I have adobe photoshop CS2 (updated) and I have a problem with the canvas image updating. The canvas doesn't update right away when I click on either the eye icon in layers, or undo. The only time it updates the canvas image is when I use the selection tool on it.

here is an image of it just incase i didn't make sense to you. tried hiding the layer by click on the eye icon but wouldn't.

I don't know if this will help but I am running on an Acer Aspire 1641WLMI laptop, Win xp pro, 1.6ghz pentium m, 1.25gb ddr2 ram, intel 900gm graphics card, 80gb hard drive.

1.2 gb of 4200 ddr2 kingston notebook ram

this problem also happened when i installed the older version(CS) after a fresh install of windows. i thought it was a pagedisk/scratchdisk/ram problem also but i'm now starting to believe that it might be my notebook(hardware issue-maybe the graphics card?)

i've done lots of experimenting with RAM and found that with over 1GB RAM on 55% speeds up opening of files etc, i have 2.5GB of RAM in my workstation and find that any more than 55% it has a dramatic effect on the performance of Opening of files etc..

have u tried turning off hardware acceleration on the graphics card?

what cache level have u got it set on?

PS really doesn't like having scratch on the same as ur system..

yep, my desktop has 2 gb. it's great.

and yep. i did try turning off hardware acceleration. still nothing. the cache level is on 8 now, but i've also tried different settings for it and still nothing happened. for the scratch, initially it was on the same partition, but i later changed it to a different one. still nothing.
