Just wondering, what is the premise behind it? In what way does it aid with your development? _________________ Earth under attack by paper mache aliens; world leaders plead - 'Save us! Doctor Who!' |

Speed painting is a good way to test different styles and ways of using tools to create artwork. The next step is to go from speed painting to finished piece. That is generally a much larger step than might be assumed.
There are some speed paints that are certainly finished artwork - no question about it. However, taking a speed paint, or essentially a rough layout, to a finalized work can be a much more thrilling experience. _________________ HonePie.com

Rather than this, Speedpainting in my eyes is a way to get a hang of thinking about the important parts of an image.
You cannot fix basic problems when it goes into detailing.
Speedpainting is not only a way for testing and increasing skill, its also the base for every painting you do. And the better the basement, the better your fine art will be.
Speedpainting is how the whole artwork works; you have to think about drawing, composition, value, saturation and color and you have to mix those elements to a rough painting which works already.
And if it really does, detailing a speedpainting is nothing but speedpaitning in detail. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ Lars Gtze
