Wooh, new page! Kind of, anyway. Still no internet connection at campus.

I've noticed that most people really prefer my more detailed works, but I still like to keep things loose enough to capture the mood/light/basic ideas. In a sense, it feels like tidying up / adding details to the piece is solely the result of wanting people to find amazement in your technical expertise. "Ooh, the skin is so slick that it looks like a photograph!" Spending 5 hours smudging color blobs together doesn't teach me anything, it feels. Or am I just stupid for not aiming for what "most people really like"?

Hmm, anyway,

wassup, really nice ships, the form is spectacular!
varg, your drawing style is great. Show some more paintings? Smile
gizmodus, really nice mood in that arch city painting!
M@., spoogetastic! Shocked
Gord, how is it a head study when you're not using any reference? Wink
Flaskpost, just out of curiosity, what's with Swedish illustrators and arrows? I remember that RasselTassel used to put quite a lot of iconic arrows in his paintings back in the Sijun paintchat days.

Great work all; don't feel left out if I didn't mention you, I just really want to get back to painting. Smile

This is really *the* best (and longest?) SP thread I know of!

Some (loose) studies and stuff:

Great stuff, I love coming here.

I'm a little bored of my standard operating procedure with respect to art in general, so I've decided to work towards a longer term, multi piece project. Here's an early concept.

chruser>> Like your WCs, big shapes, abstract and nice.

m@>> Lights!!
luc>> Loving the gladiator(mid of last page), especially his upper armor, he'd last a few more rounds wearing that
crazybrush>> Nice pencil work!
francis>> hehe right after you...the last two are my fav

Not sure where these are from...a lot of ff in them I guess?

Screwed up the form kinda....ehhrrrrr

hi!
I'm new to this board and really impressed by your artworks.
The following pictures result from a first approach on watercolors...

-- more or less drunk viking/dwarf....

-- Max Liebermann: The parrot man (face suffered due to scanning....)

I'd really appreciate some comments/hints/etc. Wink
