My GF for some reason, really wants to visit Canada. I told her it isn't all that different from the States, but she still wants to go.

So, what's there to see in Canada? Is it a fun place to visit? Should I talk her out of it?

I went to Vancouver a couple of years ago and fell in love. I've also been up to Whistler which was a lot of fun. I think Canada rocks. I've even thought about moving there.

lol roundeye.

Luna, the beer here along is worth the trip (seriously).

Canada is beautiful. I live in Toronto, and it's fine... but go to BC, it would be far more satisfying in terms of cultural experience.

Lunatique, Canada rocks. and its cheaper than the states too...

If you wanna visit some great places in Canada, try Victoria, Vancouver, Kelowna, Banff (alberta) they're all great cities, touristy in nature.

Most other cities stink like lumber mills.

(oh and if you go to kelowna, look me up. we'll go play some pool or something.)

Luna's gonna come to Canada?!!!YEAH!!!!!!!

Canada is a very peaceful and beautiful country to be in. If i'm having a family, I would definitely station it in Canada. Like pixelsoldier said, I would definitely recommend you go to BC first. Its the most beautiful place in Canada! After that, you can visit the norther noth to experience how god damn cold it is.

Then you can drop her by Ottawa so i could f*ck the Chinese out of her!!

There are a lot of Canadians on this board. How odd.

Yeah, Vancouver is nice, especially if the only color you see in your own state is a dry brown.

I suppose if you stay along that 100 mile stripe that's next to the American border (I think they call that the inhabitable zone), I'm sure you see some fairly interesting things.

I'll be expecting photos if you go.

I agree with everyone.

Vancouver's a great place. So's Victoria. I haven't really been anywhere else that I remember. Never been any farther than the middle of Alberta. The Okanagan in the interior is stunning.

If you ever come to Vancover, I recommend going to Stanley Park. And UBC.

I suggest victoria, winnipeg isn't allll that bad... but only if you'll be in the middle.

I guessing though that you'd enjoy somewhere in B.C. a lot more.

I just remembered a perfect place to go if you like views and whatnot. Myra Canyon. It's along the Kettle Valley Railway. There are about 16 old wooden tressles along it, and two tunnels. Most of the tressles look down into the canyon. I went there. The pics we got of it might convince you...if I can find and scan them.

actually, maybe you should stay at home. you might be too overwhelmed at the difference. our public toilets flush! (no babies in them! ) we pick up our garbage (except in china town, whats up with the chinese and all those crates?) and we fix our roads when theyre run down and take care of our poor (cuz were socialist communist nazis, or so i heard at biseor.com)and fuck BC anyhow. its full of degenerate heroin addict hippie dipshits. cheap mushrooms though. and hookers. heroin addict hippie hookers though.

ARghhh!!!!!! TOO MANY CHOICES!

We probably won't be visiting the middle parts. I think we'll either stick to the west or the east.

yeah i suggest the west coast. not a whole lot in the middle of canada.. except wheat... and lots of it as far as the eye can see. quite boring.

then again. this could all could be a plan to get you to come to the west coast where we could kidnap you and your gf.

actually we'd all probably buy you and your gf a beer and hang out.

man how many people are there from b.c. here anyway?

Nah, Canadia is full of floppy-headed canadians, elk, and all there is to eat is canadian bacon. it's horrible. You also have to watch out for serial killers seeing as they'll hack you up in the snow and put your body parts into a tree-mulcher

Bang- Only after I've had my way with you, you sexy boy. After me, you wouldn't be interested in women anymore.

I think we are mostly interested in really good art museums/galleries(19th century style Romantics/academics, or contemporary realism similar to Richard Schmid, Jeremy Lipking...etc), and then maybe some breathtaking scenery(they'd have to be REALLY beautiful, and the kind you HAVE to see in person. If not, I could just look at pretty photographs from landscape photographers).

Shopping is not a concern, since we shop till we drop in Hong Kong every 4 months anyway, and Hong Kong's got just about everything.

Night life is not a concern either, since we are pretty tame(my days of playing in industrial bands are over at this point). But, if there are REALLY good local bands to see, I'll drag her along(she's not much of a music person). I love industrial, goth, trip hop, progressive house, acid jazz, middle eastern electronica...etc.

Good restaurants are definitely a must. We love to eat good food.

Any middle range housing would be nice. Definitely not super cheap, roach infested motels. But, no 5 star luxury suites either.

I just want to get opinions from locals such as yourself before I dive into the whole online reservation/research thing.

For goshes sakes don't shop in vancouver. O.O...unless you like maple syrup and smoked salmon. I'm trying very hard to migrate back east to Ontario.

Vancouver's great if You're one with nature. Weather's GREAT frome late june to early september. It's still quite cold right now..and rainy and..wet...and rainy...where's the sun -_-. Snow's pretty much melted so Whistler won't be as fwuhn. Check out Victoria too...more nature...and Yes, you HAVE to see and breathe it for your self. =)

Do not travel past midnight in Richmond. Pedestrians do NOT have the right of way past midnight there.

*don't shop in vancouver if you don't want drugs and a poor education and health care.

Better then the east coast though, if you don't like people who talk funny and dress up as sailers.

Heroin addict hippie hookers, Roundeye? Where'd YOU go, Madame Cleo's? Nah, just pulling your leg....

Lunatique, I've lived in both BC and Ontario, and there are some wonderful places in both provinces. Ontario has the Science Centre, which is dorky, but a really fun day out, and Niagara Falls--but don't go to the Falls, because there are too many tourists--go hiking in the river gorge instead. It's fun. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a lovely, artsy town--go in the spring or fall to avoid rampant tourists. Don't stay at any Sheraton in Niagara Falls, especially the Fallsview. I worked at one...you wouldn't believe the rubbish that goes on.

In BC...well, I stuck pretty much to Vancouver, but there's lots to do there--visit Granville Island if you can...drop in on Emily Carr (the local art school). There's Stanley Park for taking nice walks, and the best restaurants are Bishop's, Le Crocodile, and...oh, damn, what's it called at the corner of Hastings and Seymour? Ugh. Well, it's one of those high-up revolving restaurants. The food is okay and the service is awful, but the view is brilliant and makes it all worth it. The nightclubs in Vancouver are NOT worth it--none of them. There's also a very pretty Chinese garden somewhere on Hastings Street, but I don't remember the address. It's nice, though. It's also fun to go for walks in the city to see all the fountains. For some reason, there are fountains everywhere. As for accommodation, I only stayed in 2 Vancouver hotels ever, once when I first arrived, and once when I got in a fight with my boyfriend and stayed in one out of spite. So...the first one, Le Soleil, is comfortable and cheap, but has lousy room service. The second, the Four Seasons, has good room service, okay rooms, and horrible, hard beds which are probably good for your back but feel like shit. They also have this really rude doorman that takes your tips and then makes annoying sexual comments. (And that after I gave the prick forty bucks to open the door!) He has red hair and lots of zits, so if you stay there, don't tip him.

For art, the obvious places to go are the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto), and the Vancouver Art Gallery (I think you can figure out where that is), but check out the local papers for small exhibitions and private galleries--you can often turn up some very neat stuff. In Vancouver, the galleries on upper Granville Street are a huge waste of time, for the most part--semi-commercial crap and recent art-school graduates' work half the time. But occasionally, there's something good.

Oh, and don't go to the opera in Vancouver...faugh. They never get anyone good, as far as singers go.

Blarr...well, I've rambled enough...I really just posted to make fun of Roundeye, anyway.

yeah and we also all live in Igloos and eat seal blubber and only have Gravity during daylight... which lasts for 4 months of the year... the other 8 months we have to tie everything down to Icebergs because its dark and the gravity disappears. I even use a keyboard which is made of solid Ice.

Dont laugh... My uncle owns those tree munchers.

*Gasp!* I had no idea how severe it was up there. My Lord, it sounds simply horrid.

Yeah, Did you know that The Grinch who stole Christmas was shot in Canada? You can tell by the scenery in Hooville. Icebergs, Icesicles, Snow, little people with funny teeth and the grinch played by Jim carey(who's also Canadian, by the way.)

And if you wanna watch tv: It's hockey all day long...all you guys play is hockey!! All the hockey players look like Wayne Gretzky and all the coaches look like John Candy. Hockey this, Hockey that, aye?

Then ya got Celine Dion, Tom Green, Keanu Reves, Matthew Perry, Shania Twain, Alanis Morissette and this guy: runnin' around killing pregnant cops with compound revolving snow shovels, eating "butter substitute", driking Ginger Ale, farting on eachother.

So, yeah...Horray for Mesopeglia.
