Hello fellow Sijuners!
I recently put together a website for self promotion in order to try and get a new job.
These are some examples of my work. They are all millions of years old.
Please pay a visit to my site and tell me what you think of it!

Hej Simon.
I'm hooked and love the paintings. That's a strong folio. I think you want to focus on environment design and as such it might be nice to complement the mood and overview boards with renderings of one object in a scene for example. Here's what I'm thinking. You want to show you can establish a mood and an interesting environment, and also take a part of your painting and render it out with such detail that all the information a 3D modeller needs is in there.
You're already illustrating this ability by showing your 3D folio as well. It shows you understand their needs. Brilliant. So to sum it up. You have awesome mood boards and overview boards there. Complement them with whatever you see fit to make you even more marketable as a designer. Be it designed architecture, cool structures or what have you. The grand ideas are already there. I'm a fan
The page is super intuitive, clear and easy to navigate. Perhaps add a little more work relevant information about yourself and don't be shy of spilling out in clear text what you want. Goal: To land a job in environment design etc etc. As with all marketing, end it with a punchline of action. ORDER NOW!! hehe. _________________ The Dark Ages was caused by the Y1K problem. |

So you did enviromental concepts for Dark Corners of the Earth? One of the best games I had played in years. And very nice art directing in it. Good job. |

I already commented this at conceptart.org but I say it again. Just awesome.
You know how to capture atmosphere and spirit of the scene.
Great portfolio. |

Mitsui: thank you! I checked out your website. Great stuff!
Max: Cheers! I really like the stuff Ive seen you post in the speedthread
annis: thanks! i got a couple of offers and accepted one. ohooo!
MCMA: You are totally right about rendering up some more detail. I always tend to focus on mood rather than content. I should do more research and not be so lazy =)
And perhaps I could sell myself a little bit better aswell. Its hard though. =)
SquarePixel: thank you! My brother helped me with the website. He's great! (thanks Viktor!)
gLitterbug: I did work on DCotE for about a year. Since then Ive worked on a Westerntitle that never happend and another Cthulhu game "Destinys End". Headfirst is currently looking for a publisher for that title.
kalakal: Thanks alot! ive updated this thread with higher rez images. I hope it should work.
Freebooter: Im glad you enjoyed the game! I only did some concepts very early for it. Then I did some background art. I think there is still some of my stuff in the later underwater levels....
bluepixel: thank you! Its inspired by a piece by the Swedish painter Gustaf Cederstrm.
Pixelbrush: thanks! im glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you everyone. I got myself a new job down in London which Im starting in the new year. Really looking forward to it. hopefully I will be able to post more stuff soon. See you! _________________ www.karlsimon.com
