Absolutely incredible smoke and mirrors illusion. It's an old Victorian trick.

Gorillaz talked about working together with ILM to create a new 3D technology for a tour in 2007.
Holographic technology isn't far away. Can't await the future Very Happy

I think the anmimation is just the way Gorillaz want it, as it's pretty much the same style as in their movies.
It's not the typical pixar flexibility style but more squat. I like that actually : )

wasn't too happy with "some" of the animation I saw either. The 3D 2D didn't coming across like the 2d 2D.
Murdoc was acting like Murdoc tho.

hahah yes borat's government dance was excellent,
The projection for the gorillaz thing is apparently done using a cylindrical projection foil.

Cool... but not as a live performance, the show itself wasn't all that spectacular (very bad showmanship if they weren't cartoons), the thrill only comes from seeing an animated band up on stage.

I'm interested in how it all works though? What would an audience on a far side of the arena and at an odd angle see? It seems to me the "live" camera angles were predetermined and choreographed.
