I normally don't post my photo work here, but I'm posting this one.
Here is my final image for a re-imagined Alice in Wonderland for an eatpoo contest.

I tackled this a lot like a visual effects shot. The final image is a combination of matte painting, compositing, sculpting, and photography. Around 70 layers in all and a bunch of hours of actual work.

Here is the maquette I sculpted for the caterpillar.

Here's a ton of behind the scenes stuff.

Also off topic I was recently featured and interviewed at The Scratch Post.

Comments always welcomed!

Wow, thats nice!

It all looks great but this one thing that poped out at me right away.

Just above her head is a biege path moving down to touch her head. Since they are both very similar in color you lose her head a bit into the background. Her arm has a high contrast with the background, which is good.

I was thinking that if you cloned a bit of the terrain from left of the path to just over her head it would make her head a bit more visible. Leave that horizontal path bit.

Thanks for posting it, very cool Smile

Looks very nice. Cool style and mix of techniques and media.

The only thing Id change would be the color of Alices hair to a darker one or brown or reddish instead of blonde.

Thanks guys!

Randis - There's a close up on the mini site.

Yeah. A few people have commented on the trail above her head and that side of the frame in general. I'll experiment with it for a bit when I get home.

Awesome work Smile Everything is integrated so well.

Except, I think Alice stands out a bit too much though. Her clothing is too bright on the shadowed side for the lighting in the piece methinks.
