What is the best way to adapt work to a perspective with orthagonals defined for a scene?

I am asking, because I am trying to create a complex interior for a room. The designs and archetectural details are simple, though time consuming, to create as a flat image lacking perspective. The real trick comes when I am forced to transform the designs and objects created to fit the scene I am trying to create. For instance, imagine a series of windows in a hall having similar drapes. It would be easier to simply duplicate the shape of the drapes for each window then recreate it by hand, but it would have to be altered to fit properly into the prespective of the view.

Do you guys ever have this problem?

Photoshop CS2 has a new perspective tool that would help.

If I understand the question properly you are talking about creating vanishing points?

Of couse the problem with creating vanishing points in a digital media is you can't draw you points off the edge of your workspace. You might try creating a workspace that is larger than the image you are trying to create, and use the extra space around the edge for your vanishing point.

The kind of work you are trying to do is more suited to CAD software. 3D Architect comes to mind.

Good Luck,
Bill

Orthagonals... that means lines spreading out to vanishing points.. right? If so, I have a tutorial that demos one method to use in Photoshop without the new perspection function.

Check out the tut here

Nice perspective method Eyewoo.

I started an architectural rendering over the weekend, but I cheated. I modeled it in 3d using Lightwave. So I can rotate it around and get the angle I want, then I'll do a paint over.

My previous work was all 3d but had that 3dcg look and I want it more Painter looking this time. If I can finish the work that I just picked up maybe I'll get back to painting it Smile

Thank you so much for the quick reply. The perspective tutorials are great. I am wondering if it would be more simple to learn to create basic 3D models to wrap my designs and textures around or to simply transform created shapes to be transformed by hand.

3D is a sure way to go... but I like to warp perspective in various ways to add dramatic effect or just plain weirdness... so I like to do it from scratch in 2D.
