Ist about 4 years back since my first posting here at sijun. Long time ...
I know, those days i thought i were good in drawing, but today its hard to believe i really thought it was worth posting this damn holy crap.
Well, today im happy i didn't know how bad those drawings were, perhaps i've never made it so far, if i did.
Now its time to remember the beginnings ... i searched for my first postings here and found something
http://forums.sijun.com/viewtopic.php?t=21609
Its really hard to believve, but this drawing was really sketched by my own hands, ... obviously it was a time i had never heard of anatomy, but instead of this i sketched random muscles, hehe.
So i decided to paint a Remake of this crap for fun, and it would be nice to see some of you joining in here with Remakes of your old crap!

Well, i guess i have rushed this Remake a bit too much, so i understand everyone not commenting on this.
But anyway, feel free to remake your own first(or second) Sijun-Picture, would be nice to see everyones progress in one piece! _________________ Lars Gtze

Nice idea Duracel, and you really got some progress between your pics!
This too embarrassing for many of us. To show the old crap, and then demonstrate how little has been learned after that
Thank God my first images are nowhere to be found. |

Allright... I'm not quite convinced this was my first post on sijun, but it IS the first one the search finds, from '99. (how scary is THAT?)
it was made with acrylics and then photoshopped. I had just found a really GREAT (ahem) way of making metal that way.
a small pencil rendering made just now:

Yeah, very cool, Affected!
The Progress is obviously, too.
Mikko K, noxi - well, you two are joining this forum for about 2 years ago, so of course your prograss will be not as extreme as it is in my case.
Anyway, give it a try, im sure you will see a lot of differences.
PS: Would be nice to see Mullins in here too, i know he made a lot of progress too. Do someone know where he ist, no post for awhile from his fingertips ... maybe he is on vacation!? (but where would you do holiday if you're living on hawaii? ) _________________ Lars Gtze

If I have time before this thread dies, I'll totally get in on this. I remember when I first joined, back in 2001, I posted a couple of pics I'd already done, and got one or two replies. But the first picture I did AFTER joining Sijun, and which I posted with great eagerness, hoping for feedback...well, it sucked balls. It sucked so many balls, in fact, that nobody bothered to reply at all. I was so disappointed.
I wasn't sure I even had the picture still around, but a quick search turned it up on an old storage CD. Man, what a shite picture. It even got rejected from Epilogue (on the grounds that it contained "inappropriate subject matter"! How embarrassing!)
Anyhow. The concept was part of what sucked so hard about this particular picture, but I think I can make it better with a little thought, and a lot of...well, changing shit around completely.
(And, no, I'm NOT posting the damn fugly thing till I have a new version that will prove I have, indeed, sharpened my skills since then.) _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

I've been on this site since Nov 2000.. it looks like in July 2001 i posted my first digital painting. I think its a drawing i scanned and painted in photoshop.. heh, i think i just drew a cool mask that i liked and then just went from there
And then i just crapped this one out... jesus its like, did i get any better? hahah . Sad thing is i come to this site all the time but since i've joined i've only posted a handfull of images. I plan on changing that though... i need to become more active.
this was a mistake |

I'm pretty sure this is the first thing I ever did for a speedpainting thread, back in August of 2000:

omg omg, buzz! I love that picture! Like, the warthog (or whatever) looks sooooo adorable. His confidence looks way too big for his little body, which kind of reminds me of a terrier, and the look in his eyes, and his eager stance like he's about to run off... Just had to comment, because it is so awesome. Like, I want him as my pet! Great improvement, too.
rv_el, I think u've improved. I mean, the composition in your updated pic is alot better, even though, i mean, the butt cleavage? lol. I haave to say though, I do like the character from the first image...oh wait, he has butt cleavage too, lol! |
