you always have to really pick the right spot when starting a watercolor. this time i sat in the shadow of a tree, but in no time i ended up with bright light above me, and light spots all over the paper, unable to see things clearly. damn!
small edit: i fixed that lower left area left blank. could't help it. _________________ sparth.com - art on Flickr

sparth,i hate when that happens...thats why i love grey days. this painting is better though,i think, than the others.that light on the overpass is very convincing.
decided to just use black today. |

Wasn't going to post these, but I had to cause I DON"T GOT NUTTIN ELSE.... Too busy to ratchet down the suckage, nothing to be done. But I just had to say watmough, matthew, mon, you guys are really entertaining me here. Great stuff!
Lunatique, yeah I have been getting a lot of mails about that princess piece. I found the image out there on the net with attribution and I was struck by the gesture and worked from it. Now I find out where it is from...
I think that Jerry Goldsmith wrote a score that was restored in the directors cut. I have not seen the film for a long time. But it might be nice to see again.
I think it is helpful to see a professional like Goldsmith not get used. If it can happen to someone of that level, well, I don't feel as bad when my concept crap is not used.

Neat stuff0Rz you guys!
This is a quick thumbnail sketch for a painting for WotC, about an inch tall. Hey does anyone know anything about Quarto Publishing in England? They want me to do some sort of book.

I have to comment after seeing one of my heroes talk about one of my other heroes . Goldsmith had a fair number of scores rejected, strange that Legend was one of them as it really is a fantastic score. I recently just got ahold of a new dvd from musicfromthemovies.com which contains a documentary about Goldsmith which is truly facinating. It's difficult to imagine how someone so obviously passionate counterbalances artistic demands with the commercial. Another comforting thing is raised on the DVD when Goldsmith talks about struggling with creative block, and this from the man that scored chinatown in 2 weeks!
- concept art for a short animation by 4 fellow students and myself.

I think that's just the nature of the beast (working as a commercial creative person)--the market always comes before the creativity. They scrapped Goldsmith's score for Legend because they wanted a "hipper" score to get more people into the theaters. The Tangerine Dream score for Legend has been the "real" score in the minds of the public for so long that most people have a hard time thinking of Legend without it. I think both scores work, but the Tangerine Dream one does sound very dated--that 80's synthesizer sound, which adds to the cheese factor. That's not to say Legend doesn't have its own cheese factor in abundance without the scores. |

Mon, i dig how you render all your stuff
iandredd, really like the first one, but it looks to me like the bald-headed guy look upwards - it took me some time to realize he's watching some fellows on the ground.
Just another car ... the perspective isn't 100% right, but i guess i can live with that.
