You can't take her out of the forest.
Pen and ink, somewhere around 9" x 13". The scanner ate much of the detail I put into it, unfortunately. These things never look nearly as good onscreen. Here's a small detail image:

Out of curiosity, do you start your ink drawings with a pencil sketch, or just go right in with ink? |

Absolutely beautiful. I just love the design - that little curl in the hair breaking the symmetry which leads you straight to that perfect gaze. ...just beautiful. |

First of all, I probably won't be colouring this, but as usual, anyone who feels like trying it themselves is welcome. I'll even provide a full-res version to work from on request.
NeFF - Thanks! That bottom part took ages--glad it paid off.
Dery - Thank you. It's a pain sometimes to put in so many lines, but I think the result can be worth it.
MrTrichomes, Mitsui, opticillusion, Sumaleth - Thanks very much!
imager777 - I put in a loose pencil sketch first--I like to experiment a bit with composition before committing to a final look, so it would be bad to start with pen. _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

Oh my god that's beautiful! Question though. What kind of a pen do you use? Ink? Oh and one more thing are you the same socar as from elfwood. If you are can I be your slave! Your work is wonderful. Rats rule! _________________ There is no spoon. So use a fork! |

Heysoos - Thanks! Trees and foliage are among my favourite things to draw.
Max - Glad you like it! I'm really enjoying traditional art more than ever these days--I'll be doing lots more of it!
digital_bobert - Thank you!
Synnical - You'd be surprised--a couple of good rainy days, and maybe you'd grow some patience.
johanng - Yeah, I have some work posted on Elfwood, too. As far as materials go, the paper is Canson Mi-Teintes in Sand colour, the pen is an ordinary holder with a Hunt Artist Pen Round-point 100 nib. It took, I think, 3 nibs to finish this drawing, because they lose their point after a few thousand strokes, but the nibs cost less than a dollar each. It's still cheaper than using a good technical pen. The ink is a mix of Winsor & Newton peat brown watercolour ink and Speedball Super Black india ink. (Note: although the Speedball ink is waterproof, the W&N ink is NOT, so you can't paint over in watercolour later if you use this type of mix.)
watmough - As I mentioned via PM, that paintover rules. I love the soothing feel it has, and the warmth of the colours.
the_insider - Ha, it's probably because my scanner is totally cheap. Everything looks like garbage after going through it. Anyway, the actual drawing is not crooked, but it's possible that the scan is (or parts of it, anyway). It wasn't all scanned in one piece. (And I'm going to get my website up...one day!)
eyewoo - Thanks very much! _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

Hey Socar, very nice piece of art here. Id love to see it in real life though, I bet its way more impressive that way.
How are you these days? Selling alot art like this? |
