My first time useing a tablet, and my first ever speed paint. I made this right away without trying to really learn how to use it, and unfortunatly your going to have to see the result.

blah just trying to kill myself with boring pictures... turned into more of a colour study thing
tried drawing in the lines and it looked like crap, maybe I wasn't concentrating enough...
Hey gLitterbug, you seem to be using the hard round brush all the way through for everything, any reason for that?
Petri, creative
octavian, nice stuff, the city scapes especially, and the one of the field in bali? the colours are spot-on _________________ Derelict Studios|Godwin's Space

Yeah Godwin, I believe that for learning, and thats the only purpose I do those for now, it is best to just use the simple brush. Fancy brushwork often times might improve the look and feel of the image, but it seems to me it also is easy to get lost in and use it to cover up things that went wrong. Once I can do correct textures with this simplest of brushes I guess I will also be able to create good custom brushes that save me some work, because I understand better how these textures are built up.
P.S. My nice 22"monitor broke down, so I dont know if I can be bothered to do any of these on the 17" replacement I have for now. I just hope I can get me a new one soon. Currently thinking about a tft, but not sure if thats a good idea. |

Thanks guys.
Octavian: excellent stuff as always. Makes me jealous.
glitterbug: nice. I'm trying your approach and only used the round brush for this one.
Godwin: those are nice. Really accurate too.
Neff: God dammit man You also make me jealous.
Weirdowe: I like that palette. Rainbow happy colours.
God dammit. I suck My perspective and proportions are wayyyy out I failed at glitterbug's approach and I went a little berserk trying to texture the brick wall
I really need to start working at a higher resolution. What resolution do you pros work at? I just hate scrolling around and end up doing most of my paitning at 50% zoom urgh
I don't think I want to finish this one. It's too ugly. |

hey choboroy, i think one of your main-probs is that you have to more define your shapes, your colorchoice is fine so far...
for my pic above i copypaste the original, filled it with black (or a color of your choice) an resize it by 300%.
but general... take as high res as possible on your hardware _________________ *

here's my contribution, not as good or experimental as some of the other stuff, still trying to get the hang of my tablet so this is just trying to recreate. About an hours worth of work. Plus i'm still kinda new here and i don't know how to link directly to the thumbnail for my post, so if somebody could help me out with that for next time it would be appreciated

Thanks for the advice Neff. I'm still trying to get the hang of it. And that last painting is great. I like how you leaned towards green for everything.
Simon, Idiran: awesome-ness
Twitch: Nice To link to the thumnail, right click it and go into properties. Then just copy the url in there and link to that.
Something simpler I just can't seem to blend properly. My clouds look odd too. And the trees on the horizon are waaay too big. Also needs more contrast. Oh wells...

Double post
This was done pretty fast for me. You can see I wasn't paying a lot of attention to proportions. I need to practice suggesting form with few brushstrokes
Well... at least it looks cool in thumbnail form
And I'll say it again: excellent work everyone. |
