My friend said he wanted to start "painting" (you know, with actual brushes). He was looking at my stuff and asked me how I did it. I said, "how bout I show you while I paint you."

I had him sit to the left, and kind of behind me and my easel and he watched as I managed to "shape" his face on the canvas.

2 hour oil on crappy canvas panel.

just a little portrait study from ref photo. better off doing sp with a mirror i know... but lazy me Laughing

hi odds, i don't. and that portrait is not me at all.
if you desprately need a mirror, well you could turn off your monitor and have a strong light on your face, which mostly will do Laughing

2 quickies. it turns out looser when i leave it be,
but it shows more tension when i redefine it.
the problem is that i always habitually over done where is unnesserary.
and mess up with light direction.
