heres my problem...
i have HUNDREDS of artworks just sitting around the house in piles just waiting to get stepped on,spilled on,thrown out,etc.....
i would really like to market them or somehow turn them into money.
how do i start? i am ridiculously inept at this sort of thing.
in my head,my ideal situation would be to have an agent, how do i get an agent?
i dont know if illustration is even a choice for me,not sure if the kind of work i do is suited to illustration.
anyway,if any of you have any experience(eyewoo!!!Smile ) with this sort of thing, basically turning your body of work into money ,any input would be much appreciated.

My only experience is with getting an agent for illustration work. That took several years of persistant work - developing a profile, maintaining a website gallery, and sending 8 x 10 inkjet prints to a list of agents.

During that time I also got several jobs from people who just happened across my website in one way or another. But clearly that was not a viable way to make a living... i.e. just with a website gallery.

I've never had any luck with walk-in galleries, but I'm sure that is because my work is digital. Your watercolors might be more successful with walk-in gallery owners.

Also, it is a lot of work, but you might think about booths at craft and artwork shows.

Here in AZ we have an arts festival twice a year. Artists get to set up booths to display and sell their work and it draws huge crowds. Maybe you should see if there's anything like that around your area? I really don't know if most artists turn a profit, but it's worth a look.

eyewoo,thanks alot,good to have a little insight.
its possible, maybe, to approach gallery owners, there are alot of them in the area,i just always get the feeling that the paintings are over-priced and that they never sell.
yeah, hadnt even thought about trying those shows, there are a couple around here,i will look into them as well.
i am going to try the gallery owners this summer/fall and see if they bite for next year.right now i am in the process of sorting through all my paintings to try and settle my portfolio.....unbelievable how difficult it is.....
thank you guys very much for the comments,i will get back when i make some progress.
