Not that anybody here gives a bleep but I just received a letter that told me I made it to the University of Art & Design here in Helsinki, to study graphic design. I was amongst the fifteen unlucky chosen out of 388 applicants and I got in with the lowest acceptable score. |

The way you wrote that I'm unsure if I should offer my congrats or condolences.
Either way, being 15 out of 388 (top 4%) is rock star in my book.
Congrats, man! |

Jimmyjimjim >> Congrats would be in order, though I don't know if the entrance tests had nothing to do with talent or skill.. it was an endurance test and a leap of faith. It took five days eight hours per day and I've no idea what were their grading methods and such. I was more than three years younger than the average applicant and propably one of the few if not the only first-timer who got in. I can assure you that I had to forget all my principles and take huge risks in some of the works in order to appeal to them, I was on a brink of falling after the first two days: I got some harsh critique for making too descriptive a works. I tossed all my caution (and good taste) to wind and made some abominal...pieces. I hope they never see daylight.
But it is quite sweet to get inside the most highly rated university in Finland being such a lazybone under-achiever. I sure do hope that my winning-streak continues.
And Mikko K, as the saying goes:"piss can taste good if you believe in it". I couldn't have done this without your guidance. |

I'll be seeing you at the cafeteria or something this fall then.
Not that I even know what you look like.
Congratulations anyway. |

Congrats man.
Damn it's gonna take year until I can apply for a polytecnic level school, and two years if I wont get in with first try, but I guess I'll just have to ... wait .. and wait and wait. |

Great. Congrats man!! I'll have to go through something similar in about a year.
Hope I'll also be one of the 16 people they take at the school I want to go. |

Just came back from Berlin.
Affected, I think we won't see this fall 'cause I'm gonna be in the frigging armed service. But when those photos of the new students show up on the wall, I'll be the guy showing biceps. Kinda scary, huh.
Thanks a lot Petri and Max Kulich, I hope you guys are as lucky as I am. |

Congratulations again! Nice to know your future looks a bit more secure (at least for the next couple of years). I'll hope that after you get your gratuation papers, you'll have learned something more than to design trendy milk cartons and angry posters with the maximum of three colours. But It's for sure the best school in Finland you can get in, so make the most of it. It can also be a huge advantage if you wish to study abroad, TAIK has a lot of connections to other international shools. Just keep the same attitude in your works that you had in your test, and im sure you'll at least get a diploma |
