I'm redrawing a tattoo design I came up with a few months ago, trying to get it a bit more anatomically correct, and I was wondering if anyone could spot any glaring anatomy flaws, other than that she doesn't have a head or legs (she's not going to, either), and that the wings are angled wrong (there was a reason for that, I just can't remember it anymore). Sorry if that sounds a bit bitchy, but people tend to run to that stuff first, even after I explain it all. >.<
Here's the original image:
And here's the remake-in-progress:

I notice the right wing is a little bigger than the left one.. not sure if thats what you want or not or if they're supposed to be the same size.. Maybe thats the way you wanted it.. _________________ Why dont you clone yourself!

hey, looks nice. But I think the right boob is perhaps a little too high. Or maybe too padded up top... not sure, - you can always take it into photoshop and use liquify to mess aroudn with proportions. |

Immortal_Souls: I think the real problem is that the left wing is smaller than the right. I drew the right one first, and that's how they're both supposed to be, but I screwed up flipping it (as I'm doing this by hand). I think I'll just redraw the left wing and try to make it look better. ^_^ That, or I'll try to angle it so it looks like it's actually attached to her.
Mark: I'll flatten the top of her boob a little and see if it helps. If that doesn't work, I'll shrink it a little.
Just a note: Ultimately, it's gonna look like the very first picture, just better. I'm not gonna shade it or anything (I'd mess that up so fast...).
Thanks, guys! ^_^ _________________ -Gio

Yeah keep it up Abunai, I know I want to get a tattoo one day but the real deal is that I'd like it to be a custom one and I also know Im gonna be there forever designing one because Im a really picky person regarding perfection. Especially if its gonna be a drawing that'll be tattoo'ed on you for forever.. I still havent gotten a tattoo yet and Im 25 years old.. haha.. I wonder if I'll ever get one!
And another thing about the image Abunai.. If you really want to have the tattoo shaded but are too scared to mess things up as you say, I dont really think you should be scared if thats the way you want to go about it. Just remember you can get help on this site from other members in the forum if you want help regarding shading the tattoo.. I think it'd look great if you went ahead and did.. but thats up to you dude _________________ Why dont you clone yourself!

Heh, I'm not a dude. (no worries, just letting you know)
I wasn't planning on shading it, anyway. For a tattoo, I'd prefer just the line drawing. The way I figure, fancy, super-detailed tattoos look better on other people. For me, I just want it to be simple. Hehe, I'm not even old enough to get a tattoo without my parents' permission (I've only been 17 for four months now), so if they won't let me, I've still got a while to get my design perfect. ^_^ Shouldn't be a problem, since I've posted it on a few different forums, and keep bombarding people on IRC with it, too.
But anyway, I got pissed off and redrew that left wing at a different angle. Here's the last scan, but since then I've completely re-redrawn the wing to make it look not-shitty:

Another update... I think I need to make that wing narrower and more vertical. >.<

Another update, I decided to make the figure more prominent by varying the lines and whatnot.

Another couple updates, in case anyone's actually following this thread.
"Tribal/Tattoo" - the version I'm going to have tattooed.
"Poster" - I'm going to put this on a poster and hang it above my bed.

Not sure what your reasons are for not having a head but I'd experiment with sillohuettes and using positive/negative space after you have a nice sillouhette.
This will be on your body forever, even if you have it removed, you'll still see partial prints of where it was..
I'm not critiquing your style, just seems 'unfinished' and I, looking at this on your arm, would probably ask when you plan on getting it finished.
Just wanted to tell ya that.. Looks good though.. But personally, I'd get an awesome black/white silohuette then work in positive/negative space to get the image without the details and such internally to the design _________________ .::astrochimp.net::. |

gLitterbug:
Well, to begin with, I've wanted a tattoo since I was four. It's probably the only long-term goal I've got at the moment. I'm also a really sentimental person, so this tattoo, just in that I'm drawing it myself, means more to me than if it were drawn by someone else. It suits my style.
In terms of the image itself, there are a few things. Her not having a head sort of symbolizes my personality: faceless. You can't define it. The image in itself is freedom, like a bird or - I would imagine - a fairy. The placement on my body - left shoulder blade - represents protection, like always having a guradian angel or someone watching my back. Beyond that, I haven't any real clue. Things may come to me, and they may not.
Hope that answered your question _________________ -Gio

You can still have a head and be faceless; I'd complete the whole body and just not put a face, personally..
Whats the significance of not having legs? _________________ .::astrochimp.net::. |

The leg thing... I'm just too lazy to draw them. >.< Actually, the reason I started it in the first place wasn't for a tattoo, it was just for the wings: I wanted to see how they'd look on an actual figure. I do like it as is, though. I think it adds something. And honestly, while I want other people (namely you guys) to like what I have, if I'm going to have this on my body permanently it's gotta be what I want. 'Sides, I've held out against my boyfriend on the head/legs issue for five months already.. I'm not gonna give.
Thanks guys... glad you like, even without a head or legs. _________________ -Gio
