I just love the way you do the trees/bushes... So cartoony, yet so convincing. Smile

It helps to be Scandinavian to know what a Moomin is... or a Mumintroll from Mumindalen.

Actually I don't yet know much about them... My wife, who is Swedish, is helping me out with this...

Muumit rules!!!! Warm congrats for the choice of theme!
Looks pretty good, but Id put more effort to composition and perspective.

Very, very, very nice! Just the right Mooming mood here.

Great work, eyewoo. I saw this image in the workspace thread and it reminded me of this game:

Nice!! One of your best so far!
I know Moomin, seen several movies/series (?) a long time ago, didn't understand a single word though.

watmough - slight radial gradiant? More of a slight bird's eye perspective gradiant. Stuff very slightly diminishes in size as it approaches ground level and very slightly spreads out as it rises up... I think the radial effect is just something I do naturally... with lighting as much as with line.

Got feedback from the Moomin people. They liked the picture but didn't think the Alps-like mountains looked like Mumindalen (Moominland) and they thought the trees on left and right looked too tropical... so, I made changes...

Looking nice!
I recognized this pic from your studio image you posted in random musings. It's a very authentic moomin house. Did you know they make / used to make the moomin cartoons in Japan? I think the moomin are quite popular over there. It's funny because everyone in Finland around their 20's must have been watching that series as a kid.

a few crits:
Is the new version more WIP than the previous? The background hills that point to the house seem a bit cut out at the moment, maybe they could go behind the house to give more three dimensional effect. And I agree about the clouds, maybe they are a bit too blurred when compared to the rest. Other than that, the style works very well!

Keep up!

edit: btw. Moomindalen is actually Moomin Valley, and I think it's a big valley so no mountains visible near the house.

but beside this, a really nice pic,
a little bit hard front perspective, but well balanced details Very Happy

NeFF...

Thanks... The "hard front perspective" is necessary because the picture is a background for an animated computer game in the same style as Gilbert Goodmate and the Mushroom of Phungoria.
