Hello,

The idea of a forest dragons encountering remains of a knight might be not dynamic, but I tried to build up some atmosphere - the mother dragon being suspicious and the small dragons beeing little careless...

I painted it some time ago, for Dragons anthology
..all comments are welcome! Thanks!

You have a great sense of light and value, color and detail. I think your drawings skills...the anatomy on the wing, for instance, the shape of the skull, is very unconvincing, and that makes the whole thing fall apart. It is a major skill, drawing. Something like 80% of all the work put into a painting is drawing, and I can attest to that. I have timed my work and seen that it is so for myself.

Something to think about.

There's some great schools listed at www.artrenewal.org.

I wonder what it is that you specifically find unconvincing about the the anatomy? To me the skulls look fine, except maybe the larger dragon in the picture, the way the head is coming off the neck doesn't quite look right to me. But it seems funny to even judge the anatomy of purely fictional creatures. I think as long as the anatomy is consistent through out all the dragons then to me it is convincing. It's all make believe anyways.

About the piece itself. It's not bad. I agree that the lighting was well done. But I didn't even know that those were the remains of a knight in the corner until I had read the description. It maybe needed some more detail on it. Good job though.

Great stuff.. I only have 1 critique. The scales on the dragons themselves dont look quite convincing enough.. They look like pebbles on the dragons and not scales. Scales have to be well defined to be lookalikes. Other than that I think its great! Keep up the good work Wojtala.

Here's an example of more defined scaling..
