Hi there!
Several people asked me to create a homepage,...and so I did.
I have to say that I really have no clue about web design, programming and all that stuff.
I made this site with Dreamweaver and it took me ages to find out the basics.
Hotspots and center image "cough" - that's all I used, so,...don't expect quality concerning usability. It's not 56k friendly I quess,...anyway.
You will find most of my speedpaintings some finished works and stuff I haven't shown before...projects etc.
www.maxarts.net.tf
I'd really appreciate some comments on the site and my stuff.
Thanks alot in advance!!
- max

Cool site max,
We have quite a bit in common, though it would appear you have the greater focus! Curse my foggy peon-mind.
Keep up the good work! |

Your work is quite good to begin with in the 2d section, but I was very impressed with the stuff under the projects tab. You shouldn't rip on yourself in the accompanying text. |

Site's good. May want to add some contact information? Couldn't find any at least. Loved many of the pieces in the folio, but the girl character in Mayhem City is my favourite. You know the one that's staring at the sky. What's her name and story? Interesting projects coming up as well. _________________ The Dark Ages was caused by the Y1K problem. |

Great site. Nicely put together and easy to navigate, which is always appreciated. All the spelling/grammar errors in your "About Me" section kinda made me cringe though, so if you want someone to edit/correct it for you, I'd be happy to, hehe.
Real nice site though, I've always enjoyed what you've posted here on Sijun. _________________ DA Gallery| LiveJournal

Hey great site. The style is consistent and it is easy to orientate one-self. I'm really impressed with the quality of your artwork, and you're young, I thought you were older. I think you'll have a great career ahead of you with all that potential. A lot of your work is already top notch quality competing with the top illustrators in the industry.
I agree with FallDamage. Leave out all putting down of your artwork. It is up to the viewer to decide whether she likes it or not. Perhaps that piece you thought oversaturated would be something an AD would be looking after for a magazine illustration or a book. Then it's no good pulling it down in the description. I also think you should leave out that you're a wannabe 3D artist, by the look of what you've done: you are a 3D artist Perhaps just get some more 3D work posted. I also thought that the line drawing without colour perhaps could have been put in a section of its own, 'sketches' or something. I'm sure you have sketches to show. It just seemed to break the consistency of the presentation. I also was thinking that you could divide you illustrations into -characters and -environments. I thought all of the Mayhem city works were great and you should post all of it separately, instead of hiding it in the description text.
I know it is a lot of work to change stuff, so consider this just some ideas. But it might be worth it if it means even better opportunities. I tried to put myself in the position of an Art Director looking for a candidate for a conceptual artist position or a guy looking for artwork for a book. But it is just details, me being a bit picky perhaps
I love your work Max Kulich, it's enthralling! |

Thank you so much for all those kind words guys! Makes me really happy
eyewoo: thanks a lot! I really appreciate your comment!
watmough: thank you very much!
Capt. Fred: thanks Fred! That's really motivating comming from you. "greater focus" ? on girls you mean?,...hehe
Rolando.: thank you! Yeah, a lot of people liked that, still trying to figure out what made it so special.
RasselTassel: Thank you! You're a great inspiration, the whole design is based on this pic (the blue girl) which was inspired by one of yours!!
FallDamage: thanks, I am glad you like my projects. That's the stuff I haven't shown before because I wasn't sure if people would be interested. Well, I might have overdone the self criticism...I'll try to change that : )
MCMA: Thanks you!! You know, this site is mainly just for fun to show you guys my stuff, not a portfolio or something I want clients to see (as if I had clients...) but you can find my mail in the "about me" section. Maybe I should make it stand out more. About the girl, well, she actually doesn't have a name, not yet. She is the only being left in Mayhem City, you could say she's the spirit of the city. Theres' much more to tell about her, maybe I will make it my new project. I will definately work on it some more...
ElfGirlKimmy: thanks a lot Kimmy! Ups, you got me, I should have read over everything before posting argh,...it seems my english skills aren't that good. Hey, it would be soooooo nice if you could correct it for me. I'd really aprechiate it!!!! *hides* : )
Mon: Thank you very, very much!! That means alot to me comming from you!
Bjornar: Great, thank you so much! You're really kind! I am really glad you think I can make it, that's so motivating : )
Hmm,..you might be right about my self criticism,...I'll update that! But this site wasn't meaned to be for clients and such, I quess you're right anyway, who knows, maybe some AD will take a look,...hehe
The line drawing is actually a digital pice, but it doesn't really fit, that's true. I'll replace it. Well, I have A LOT of traditional skeches and concepts. I'll make a own section when I get time to scan and upload all that stuff.
I would devide it but I have only a few "non character" images, not sure if that's enough. Hey, I really appreciate your comments, I am glad you pointed all of that out. I'll keep it in mind! Thanks again, you really helped me!
ax--hv: thank you very much. That's the only real tutorial I have ever made, I am glad it's useful. Well, 3D is definately helping. I learned alot about light and composition for example. Doing high quality modelings of human bodies (which I can't) is a great practise for sure, you really have a great knowleadge about anatomy afterwards which can be used for 2d stuff too of course. Try it, 3d is very powerful and can be of great help!
oDD: thanks a lot buddy, I really apreciate it!!!
Mykoz: I will definately make a traditional section - it may take some time though. I have to draw some stuff that's worth showing : ) thanks!
Diruo: hehe, yeah, I am glad I finnaly made a site, I just wasn't sure if people would be really interested. As I see my stuff is welcome, I am entirely happy.
Thanks again for all those nice comments all - your support means so much to me! - Thank you!!!! |

Hey Max - do you have a text file of your writing you could send/copy'n'paste for me through a PM or e-mail? Cuz uhh... I'd have to retype the whole thing from your site if you don't for me to fix errors. :-
Which I don't mind doing so much, would just be easier for me not to have to. _________________ DA Gallery| LiveJournal

hey Max I told you that you are gonna be dangerous with the brush and these for sure are impressive works. Navigation buttons text seems a bit blurry to me, not sure how to fix that either but I thought I could tell you anyway.
About the cubes and polygons consuming cpu power, not sure which 3d software u are using but I used to hide things when I worked in 3d studio max years ago. It worked well when u wanted to work on other things in the scene and the computer wouldn't crack up as much as when u displayed all of the objects at the same time.
ok end of my rambling, keep up the good work Max.
Matthew

Thanks alot Matthew, really appreciate your comments : )
Yeah, they are a bit blurry but I don't want to raise the quality because it would take even longer to load...
Thanks for the tipp, I am working in 3dsmax. I think what you are talking about is called "layers" or somehting, like in ps actually.
Maybe I can find a tutorial. Thanks again Matthew : ) |
