Are you guys experiencing severe dark banding contrast of magenta colors when going between Painter IX and Photoshop? Check this thread out, and look at the example picture posted by cloudmover.net:
http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=194882&page=2&pp=15
Anyone have an inking of idea as to WTH is causing this? It's annoying as hell. |

hmm that's strange....
A friend asked me the same question a time ago, and after some experiments we found the color-management was the problem.
But after reading the cgtalk-thread it seems that's not only a reason. strange...
Do you have any files to play with, luna ?
I mean one with this problem of course ? (a part is ok also)

I've had some similar problems only much worse when saving in .psd format and I save very often. The later the iterrative saves the more spectrum I loose and funny banding appears, also with purple and magentas involved. To be clear I typically save 30+ times per extension # and manually save a higher number when I reach a milestone. I just recently discovered the iterative save right there in the menu and will start using that
I don't understand yet why and when this problem appears. The many saves is just my loose theory. I'm not really good at analyzing these things but will follow the threads with interest in hopes of understanding this better. For now I just save in .rif and I'll check that save uncompressed checkbox for all projects which I haven't been doing consistently.
I've supplied an image to show this problem. Cropped out the problem area which used to be sky with some nice (well) airbrushed clouds and a wide variety of colours and values. Many saves later it seems all the info is gone and I'm left with this ugglyness
Hope I didn't confuse things even more now.
