Wacom has a new driver ver 4.85-6 that fixes one very annoying problem I was having with my Intuos 3 6x8.
At high resolutions in particular, there was a very slight lag when starting to draw a line. If anyone else has noticed that, it is happily fixed with the new driver relased last March. I just discovered it... better late than never...

I had a helluva time with that driver because I installed it on top of the last one instead of removing the last one first.
I finally did it right, and all was well -- |

I just installed it right on top of the old one and had no problems... Maybe different OSs account for the difference. I'm using WinXP home edition. _________________ HonePie.com

It's good you didn't have any trouble.
I have Win XP Pro, and when I installed it, the cursor was wiggly; diagonal motions became expressed in cursor paths composed of small horizontals and verticals; window edges and hyperlinks acted like obstacles that it took extra motion to drag the cursor past; and zeroing in on something specific like an icon was like putting a key in a keyhole while drunk.
I had to call Wacom, and the first thing they asked was, "did you remember to uninstall the old driver first?"
... so if anyone else has symptoms similar to mine -- a clean uninstall before reinstalling could be your solution. |

I remembered about the Wacom "uninstall first" after I had started installing the new version... but, since it worked fine after the new install, I just went with it... all's working well and that slight lag at the start of every stroke - very annoying - is gone. _________________ HonePie.com

There's an even newer driver now...
Driver 4.87-2_32 for Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP Jun. 16, 2005 1.48MB
I'm going to try it. Maya 6.5 is ignoring my MMB
I ran the diagnostic mode on the Wacom and switch 2 (the MMB) only reads as closed when I bear down extra hard on the wheel. The click alone won't do it. Maybe the switch is faulty.
At any rate, there's a new driver. |
