I did this today in a workshop with Joel Nakamura.
About 3-4 hours minus lunch. Color added later w/ photoshop. _________________ Sheff

Sheff, I had Joel for advanced rendering in school. I know he won't remember me, but say hi for me if you see him again.
Swarm, post larger so we can see.

From one of Asimov's Foundation books. I think it was the second? The revealing of the Mules identity. Cool scene. People see what they want to see.

Another try - a dynamic shot. w/ref. Tried to get rid of a chaotic brush strokes and get the form right... Some lines did escape though. So much to learn ... ANy tips? I would be reaaaly appreciated...
Swarm, Watmough - great works. Do you scan tose renders or photo them? Great colur work, guys.

ceenda: just wanted to say that your work is stunning. I consider you to be one of my favourite digital painters. The tightness in your brushwork is gorgeous, and your use of light and colour is striking. Please continue to post here.
Do you perhaps have a large resolution of the last image you posted in this thread? I'd love it as my wallpaper. |

I really need to start making progress here. Couldn't take this any further, started to loathe it too much.

kimchi: Wow, thanks! 'fraid that's as big as I have. I followed some advice from Painter-supremo "Mons" to work at screen res, so it never really got any bigger than 640 width.
Another quicky done for the CGTalk weekly sketch. Not too pleased with this one.

Craig, if it was a two day workshop, I would tell him hi, but I had to split to work on a job. The main reason I took the workshop was that the term I was supposed to have Joel, he moved to Santa Fe, so I never had him as an instructor.
How was your gallery show in Lahaina? What images did you show? Was it only entertainment work or was it a mix of stuff?
How do you get your entertainment assignments? Does your rep get them for you or do clients contact you directly?
Painted just to post. This started out as Darth Vader from behind, but I don't know what happened. _________________ Sheff
