Started a new piece tonight, trying a new technique - well, new for me - never done the whole greyscale-then-color deal, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Just want to know if there's any glaringly obvious problems with the girl thus far, or any other feedback you feel like throwing at me.

Thanks much everyone. Wink

Looks like her neck and head is slightly to the right side of the center of her body; if you draw a straight line up from her breasts you'll see what I mean. Nice start otherwise.

as the girl is tilting her head backwards, the face should get some foreshortening.

the nose is being affected by the perspective, the rest of her face isn't.

take a look at this picture, it will explain this issue better than me rambling Smile

you're doing good though! keep on working.

After reading the comment about the foreshortening it looks like maybe the chin is not at the correct angle of the nose. You'll have to adjust one of those to match up with the other. Overall it's looking good. You have very clean lines.

Hrmm..... My reference:

Maybe I forshortened the nose a little too much? Confused

And I know the face shape isn't exactly the same as the ref, but that was on purpose. :-

Oh yes,a nd an updated image:

I think it's the lower part of the face that doesn't look tilted enough. Your jawline looks a tad too steep, and the lower lip is too round for that angle, and also the chin is too large... try putting some more shading on it.. Otherwise, the picture is turning out very nice, her top looks great!

Okay, is the face worse or better, and if better then does it need to be worked more or is it fine as is?

I think this means I have to start on the background now... *is scared* lol. O.o

The edge of the jaw is too far out. Look at your reference and you can see that the jaw doesn't go much farther than the neck. You can fix that by either redrawing that area, or painting over the sides of the jaw with hair. Either way this is really turning into an awesome drawing.

Hey Kimmy, your painting is quite nice.
I made this super quick paintover referring to your ref-image. Hope that's okay for you...
I tried to keep your style. Changes: chin-area softer, eyes in slightly different angle, cheek smaller and a bit more contrast to the whole!
Maybe that helps. : )
Keep one thing in mind though, if you want to create a backgound, don't just add it at the end. Work out the WHOLE image first, then go into details.
The BG may not fit to the rest of the image if you add it now...
Anyways, keep at it. It looks great so far Very Happy

Thanks Max, that really helps. Hopefully this version is better!

Let me know if you see anything else that screams "FIX ME!!!" Wink

Oh, and I darkened her hair. Just because.

Better than mine, for sure. Very lovely. Great improvement Kimmy.
Now I'd add some more elements to get rid of the empty background Very Happy

Not to be a bother, but some people may think that your last version looks a tad too... chipmunkish ? I think it may be the far left of the left cheek and the area above the mouth / beside the nose. But yes this version is better than the first, good job.
