I've only started playing Magic; the Gathering starting from the Revised Edition and Fallen Empires and unfortunately had to stop playing after Mirage. In those years I've seen great artists and bad artists, cool cards and ugly ones. Richard Kane Ferguson is one of my favourites from those years. I can honestly say that I find your work marvelous, and I'm looking forward to finding the cards with your artwork. (If I find 'm, can I send 'm to be signed? ) _________________ http://www.krijthe.net/backgrounds.html

Aleksi, I'm a huge fan of your work. The comic book pages show a style I've never seen from you, but still adore. How much time are you spending per page, out of curiousity. Also, is the comic colored? _________________ artpad.org |

Thanks !
Fiend : I'm doing a lot of speed painting, in fact the first step of all of my illustration works.
Same thing for videogame concept arts but I can't post them.
Nausicaa : Delcourt is also a very good publisher. Sad that your project didn't came to the end.
Jozhik : thanks
Cicinimo : Yes, the finished comics is full colors but I didn't do them on this project. I've done some other works with this B&W inked style, like the covers I've done for the COPS RpG books.
I'm spending more time on this B&W pages (too much) than on my full color pages. i know it's strange but it's true. And I prefer working with colors, so all my next comic-books will certainly be all in full colors, not inked but just painted, like this one :

Sounds logical to me actually... it's more difficult to capture certain atmospheres with only black&white (like hot & cold which with colors is easy using red and blue)
I've been out of the Magic scene for some time - are then any other series where I can find cards with your artwork? _________________ http://www.krijthe.net/backgrounds.html

Thanks everybody,
really.
Jozhik : only in the Kamigawa set and the next one. I'm currently working on some new cards.
Santa Cruz Mafia : The cards and the comic cover are all digital sometimes with some really rough sketch. Nobody would understand something on thi sketch except me.
The B&W pages are done traditionnaly (pencils+inks) with the help of computer for the layouts.
The Spawn page is all digital, with some basics done on paper.
I often use some paintings effects scanned. |
