Hey guys
I have posted each of these at other art forums, but not here (I think). The first one is a painting of a level design concept, design by my boss Farzad Varahramyan. The other is a marketing piece created for some game magazines. That one went over like a lead balloon on cgtalk.com. Can't please em all I guess!

I like them, although the naked girl's face is a bit dull imho.
The level seems a great place to visit =), makes me think about what quake3 should have had. _________________ "Ever forward, my darling wind." -Master Yuppa

is there supposed to be such a size difference between the naked girl and the clothed one? If not, why have them sitting on the same plane? Why include a plane for that matter. Largeness usually means a larger importance. So we know that the guy in the background is of importance, and the naked girl is of importance, but that visual cue is kinda mixed up with the other lady, and the size issue. Other than hardly being able to read what they are, the illustrations are well redered.
Compositionally I would have gone with a narrower frame for the first one, to empahsize the size of the Torture chamber and the gothic cathedral background. The second one my mind becomes confused when I get to the lower part of the picture. CUt it in half horizontally and look at the top half, and it reads alot better. I'm not saying that the bottom needs to be cut out, jsut reconsidered. _________________ "It's not the tools you use but how you use them that counts." |

Hey Francis I love the pics, great as usual. I love the first one, the skull thing rocks.
I like the bottom one I think it's a nicely done vignette of a story or game.
I'm guessing that the two women are the main characters, and that the guy in the back is the enemy, or some sort of character that brings them together. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah I am thinking that there are some issues with the second pinup type image. It was sort of collaged together without a solid plan up front. Goes to show you can't render your way out of a bad composition.
Back to the drawing board as they say...
Thanks doug - you should try throwing some environment sketches into the speed paint thread. Great way to practice, and not too much of an investment there. _________________ Francis Tsai
