Hey, it's Dick (Richard)! I'd recognize that model anywhere. You spoke of Kevin Chen. I took a couple of classes with Kevin, he's much better in person than through notes, although now he's not really teaching figure drawing anymore. He kinda burnt out. I think he'll teach more again later though. In the meanwhile there's Kinman Chan, who I'm taking a class with right now. Take Kevin Chen's form and shape design, coupled with Steve Huston's form and power, and the design and drawing ideas of Dalas Good and you get Kinman Chan. He's an excelent teacher. He's teaching at LAAFA right now (consiquently where Vilppu teaches a basic figure drawing class) on monday nights. You should check him out. And also Charles Hu and Randy Batong.

thanks for the shouts, everybody!

And it's still nice to see everybody picking up pencils, pens, chalks, ice pix, whatever and gettin down...really.

pix to post:
mike: Yeah. That's Dick alright. Well just his head. I mean...uhh. (joke)
And those are good figures. Very solid forms.

the LAAFA has alot of talented artist. While the current roster of painting teachers have varied "approaches", the drawing instructors, except for Sergio, imo, all pretty much teach what Vilppu has been teaching worldwide for over 20 years. The difference lies in the fact that they are anatomically specific. Thus, giving more recipes and formulas for shape design.

My thing is that Basic Drawing coupled with your own homework and anatomical study, you can then add your "own" style to describe the shapes and forms of the human figure. I want my drawings to look like a "Reakshun/Tyree drawing" , not "Reakshun draws like such and such." Feel me?

anyway, more workshop paintings (oil, acrylic), class, and imagination (prismastick). I've been sick Confused .

nice stuff, everybody!
Life hit my ass again with some drama...again. I only got these two 25s in and here's an oil from 2 months ago for good measure.

A Loomis Chapter a day keeps the bad lines away...sometimes. It was corny...so whut. Cool

inspiring thread again, with many people and approachs.
really inspiring.

Fighting and loosing with aquarelles at the moment. 4 days in the mountains ... one saved from the bin. I wasn't trying eight hours a day, though. Plein-air painter must have special power to do so. I will cherish these memories of waiting for the WC to dry under heavy snow, for sure.

ABCArt>> Damn master! those are fucking awesomely great, espcially skintone. And those 25 min study with chacoal blew me away. So much to learn from you.

Varnum>> Great batch, and thanks for the kind words. Coming from you, it means a lot to me...and making me feel like I am heading somewhere.

Good Five to Six hours.

Good few hours

(HPX cross my mind on this one)
