I did this over the weekend just for the sake of seriously painting something. I started with a reference photo of a girl's face... and it sprang from that.

Interesting..never seen a tail on a fairy! The flowers etc. are great. I especially like the little dew drops etc.

You seem to portray some depth to the scene there. But the figure seems a bit flat in the forground. Almost as if you added that later. Some overlapping with the rest of the scene, and a bit more borrowing of the shadows/lighting might help.

Also the fairy seems a bit...um...substantial? I always think of them as whimsy, etc. (though the one attempt I made at one didn't come out that way! doh). the figure also looks a bit too realistic for a fairy. Usually people attribute to fairys a rather ideal figure. This one has more...fat deposits? realistic proportions in the torso? The dark green wings seem to clash a bit with the flesh tones too.

The face painting and the tail are nice features. Perhaps the whole thing is a new take on the fairy cliche.

Overall I like it a lot. I think it would benefit from integrating the figure more, as mentioned, and maybe eliminating a bit of the glow..or making it less than just a perimeter glow.
