hi
i am working on a game where you are a rock-star, and i am going to make the title screen a silhouetted performer on a lit up stage. so far i have a rough sketch of the character, but i want some comments on anatomy since i am especially new when it comes to anatomy and couldn't find any helpful resources
okay here is the rough sketch
also i would like thoughts on this logo that i am working on
C&C on both would be greatly appreciated _________________ Thanks |

Re the logo, I'd make the globe the same style as the letters and lighten the letters to about 60% grey (leave the globe black)...my two cents. |

i agree with durgledeep in terms of the style of the globe in relation to the text. one other suggestion is the stance of the guitarist. i play guitar in a band...and when we start rocking out...i'm not standing like that.
i think that if you were to put him in the tried and true "power stance" (look to any decent band's guitarist for the specific stance) and make his right hand have a bit more reach on the guitar (that is...the tip of the thumb erect with the guitar and the other fingers reaching for the 5th and 6th strings) and you'll have a figure who's truly going to "rock the world."
keep up the good work

I assume this quick sketch is the kinda thing you're looking for. Anatomy wise you just have to make the silhouette look about right cause that's basicially all that you're seeing. Your shoulders are too round and should be more square, and the fingering position against the body doesn't work for me unless he's playing really high up on the finger board. The legs I agree look more like a roaker a about shoulder length apart or so. Other than that I hope this sketch helps you out and answers any of your questions. _________________ "It's not the tools you use but how you use them that counts." |

thanks for the replies
i've decided to go a step with the power stance thing and have him holding his arm in the air, but the anatomy kind of went out the window i tried to fix it up a bit this is what i have so far:
i was also a little unsure on how much i should change the globe bit, so i did a few edits see what you think (the colours were just temporary):

Now that I see the grey, I'm not so sure about that; but I think you nailed the globe (the angular version); I'd make the outline a little (or a lot) thicker, maybe...easy to say these things when someone else is doing the work...
Edit: Sorry if that was unclear, by "the angular version" I mean in banners 1 & 2. |

Giving the silhouette a Pete Townsend look now. First off I think that you whould be looking at the figure itself and painting it in parts. I usually draw a circle for the head and hips, join it with a line for the spine, make a line for the shoulders, and then draw cirlces where the other major joints in the body are.
Most of my body crits are in this body sketch using the technique I descrobe above, and I put the guitar in (Fender Strat style) in red.

Damn, I think my right leg should be a little shorter in the claf area, and the left leg should be longer...... Ah well. You get the idea anyway. _________________ "It's not the tools you use but how you use them that counts." |
