I've been getting into painting digitally more and more lately, and as much as i realize experience and practice are the most important pieces, I'd like to help myself along as much as possible in other ways. I know a lot of people use photoshop, and it is also what I use. But I've also heard crazy amounts of things about Painter. People seem to use that just as much, and many times say they use both Painter and Photoshop to complete any given painting. What I'm wondering- do you think I'm missing an awful lot by not using Painter? Is it ok to just work with Photoshop? What kinds of things do you find Painter works better for?
I'd appreciate any and all input, thanks. |

Hi,
Other great places to look for information and Painter artwork are:
Corel Painter IX Website (plan to spend some time following all of the links, viewing Painter Masters artwork, and reading their bio's where they talk about why they use Painter and what they love about it):
http://www.corel.com/painterix
Corel Painter IX Newsletter, The Painter Canvas:
October 2004 Issue
http://www.corel.com/painterix/community/newsletter/2004-10/index.html
November 2004 Issue
http://www.corel.com/painterix/community/newsletter/2004-11/index.html
December 2004 Issue
http://www.corel.com/painterix/community/newsletter/2004-12/index.html
January 2005 Issue
http://www.corel.com/painterix/community/newsletter/2005-01/index.html
In Depth Arts' Painter Can - 2D Studio Forum (ask the folks there to point you to threads containing good examples of Painter work by epoxy5, Paulo, ePainter, Greg, and others):
http://www.indeptharts.com
If you read all that, you'll know a lot about Painter from people who've used it for years and loved it for years... and earn their livings using Painter.
Happy reading and looking!
