stunning rendering. this would be a great old school heavy metal cover! i wish the heat in the picture would be more intense.
why does she have such a calm expression on her face alltough shes blindfolded, chained, and somewhat uncomfortably clothed? I see that there could a point on it, but Im not too bright to figure it out.
Cool pic. |

Angels aren't sex pots with big breasts.
In fact angels in scripture are male.
The only One from Heaven that could
decend to hell and not be consumed
was Jesus Christ. That's why He was
sent to redeem us and not an angel babe
with a big rack.
If you're going to go to all the trouble to
portray angels, why bother with personal
fantasies that couldn't possibly be accurate.
It's a nice rendering, especially the building,
the lighting and the hazy light mood, but
that's not the way God works.

I thought angels were genderless? It's not like they reproduce... |

personally I think it's a great rendering. Although the hip area looks more defined than the top part of the body, and I feel the background needs a bit more careful rendering.
As for the Angel debate(I know I'm going to hate myself for wading into this one) Angels are messengers of God. However, the true definition of the word Angel is Messenger from the greek. They're messengers of God. Nothing in the bible tells of the wings of Angels(I'm not totally sure on that one). When Christianity was adopted by the Roman Empire alot of the traditions form the former gods was folded into the religion to appease the masses and make Christianity more of a religion that the masses could accept.
Part of that annexation of Pagan Gods by the Christians was that of the god Cupid. This little figure has always been represented as a figure with wings and a bow. the most popular of the renderings were of a cherub with wings. So as the annexation continued, Cupid became assosciated with Angels. Perhaps it made more sence to the people at the time that Angels could get around on wings, and that wings looked so majestic that it must be heavenly.
Anyway, to suggest that this is a corruption of Judeo-Christian values could be correct, in the sence that these traditions have been around for 1,500 years. However seeing a figure with wings just as an Angel si nothing more than looking at a picture with blinders on your eyes. The tradition of winged people goes back farther than Christianity. Look at the greek myths, espescially Deadalus and Icarus.
Angel has become a generic term for any winged human. Another generic example would be Pegasus. Pegasus was a horse, a Male horse at that. An now winged horses are always referred to a Pegasus, and mostly given female attributes.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is look past any biases you may have, and see the picture for what it is. That's what this forum is about, not the arguement of puritanicial ideas regardless of religion.
Enjoy the art for it's creation and how it reads visually. _________________ "It's not the tools you use but how you use them that counts." |

The Angels of the bible are described as male.
Why reject God, who's holy and righteous but
yet accept fantasy images made purely from
a fallen human imagination.
That's a bit backwards.
faeklone is quite right, Angels with fluffy feathered
wings are not scriptural.
Just to look at one, you wouldn't know him
from anybody else.
In fact you're advised that sometimes you're
in the presence of Angels and don't know it.
Sometimes you just don't know
who you're talking to. |

Whoa!!! A lot of religion disscuss here...Hold on, please... It`s just an a picture with a primitive idea (i seen alot of female angels in fantasy art).
Is anyone seen an angel? Maybe a big flashing tits before your eyes make you beleve what sometimes they are female too
Sorry for my english, long time without practice ![Embarassed](images/smiles/icon_redface.gif) |

stacy, many would argue that the angels in teh bible are just as much a work of fiction as this painting. Breaking the views of a religion that he may not even be a part of, is not a critisism for this wonderful painting
No offense meant |

OK, I'm going to shut up after this as this is not that relevant really, but:
"They are without gender as we know it, being neither male nor female, and they do not marry (Matthew 22:28-30)."

I guess it would be polite to try to make some useful comments as well:
The stomach looks really flat and there's a pretty sharp corner that seems to run up her side from the hip bone... And the navel maybe should be a bit higher. Of course a navel is only for beings who were born the traditional way anyway...
And her breasts seem to be different sizes, the left one especially is odd. Did whoever chained her also put those straps on? |

Exactly. And frankly Stacy, I think you'd be more offended if he painted Jesus with a large penis bungling from under his robes instead of this excellent piece of art.
I have to agree that I'd like to see some more glow of the warmth on the figure itself. Maybe a flame reflection on the iron or something. |

I only have realistic fantasies... *cough* Nice image, a little monotone in some skin areas, but nothing to complain about! _________________ -Anthony

why don't we keep religion out of it, and just comment on the actual painting.
i like the piece overall but i agree that there should be more "heat".... maybe more color in the background to signify it.... but i love it as is as well _________________ bryan nafegar |

I really like the background in this piece, but the angel is really bothering me. I can't help but think she is bent over a bedpost or something in an original photo. Her pose is extremely suggestive and to me it doesn't fit this picture.
Other than that I really think you did a great job with the rendering! ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ "Imagine, for a moment, a world without hypothetical situations." |

Holy hell, this is great art!
My name is Ryan Maes. Recently, I have completed a feature-length screenplay entitled, Way of Shinobi. Shinobi is an action-packed adventure in which the majesty of the samurai, and the allure of feudal Japan meet dark fantasy and twisted history.
Right now, I am searching for a talented artist to supply concept art for my screenplay. What I am looking for are a few key illustrations (between three and eight) that help convey the characters and locals in the film. I need art that will provide the studio executives with good, clear visuals as to the look and feel of the final film. Something that will get them excited and make them say, Wow, this is awesome. (Of course, it always helps if the screenplay is awesome, as well.)
Shinobi is a high-concept film that lends itself extremely well to conceptual art. Full of vast locals, Japanese gods of myth and legend, wicked demons, and a fantasy take on the classic Ninja -- it should be enough to get any creative artist excited.
I can email you a copy of the script in the Adobe PDF format. Then, if after reviewing the script you are interested, we can discuss an arrangement and work out the details.
If you have any questions, be sure and let me know. You may contact me at [email protected]. |

ROFLMAO Max...but I think that would be Drukpa Kunley (Tibetan Buddhism) and his "flaming thunderbolt of wisdom".
Pavel, I dislike using references too...that's a great piece of work. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
