I am proposed with a opportunity to work on a vidoegame project doing concepts. Its a small company whos got couple games under their belt and theyre making a game in order to sell to a publisher.
What is the general freelance fee for concept art in a videogame? The possibilites are endless if i actually goes big and sells, but i dont want to be an ass and ask for an unaffordable amount from a small company. |

You can always charge an hourly or daily rate. That depends on how fast you are though. _________________ -Anthony

That's going to be a different answer for everybody.
Concept artists basically can set the rate they make by who they are. Meaning if you have a lot of industry experience and are good and flexible - you make more money. That doesn't mean that you will make that money, but you could be.
You'll need to find a way to calculate what your time is worth.
If the company is just coming at you for 10-20 character designs then perhaps charge them per piece. Figure out what level of completion they need. (sketch, color, illustration) Then figure out how much time that's going to take you. _________________ www.phfx.com |
