good idea color it man....i wasn't being a bastard of any kind...i was just implying that portraiture is a form of study...if art were basketball i'd say portraiture of celebrities would be like practicing your jump shots after school for the big game...its mainly something you limit to your own privacy or sketchbook...a warmup...unless of course it is the primary subject matter of your work as an artist (i.e chuck close) other than that its good but lets not go on a hunt for kudos here...peace be with you friend

I took your first post as you preferring a more action style of art, but I guess I was wrong. These pictures (James Dean/Lizard Queen) are for simply breaking in my new Aiptek pen pad. I liked how I could start fully using my traditional skills with the computer. Also these posts are not for kudos. These posts are for me to hear some fresh open opinions about the art, a simple but effective learning process for me. For me to do a celebrity is very rare, I thought that it would be fun on this occasion. If you get to know my art, I apply all my skills of anatomy into my artwork, whether its just a sketch or doing a final piecepeace be with as well.

Snakes arent Lizards! Razz . If you can, you should post larger images, its kinda hard to see things in such small images. From what I do see, the girls top half looks well done in terms of anatomy and all that but then when you get to the snake it looks much more generic and contrived out of your head. Get some references of snakes coiled around things. Also it seems very two dimensional in terms of the space you are showing.

My commest would be that the compostion looks a little too static, and kinda makes me wonder what is happening with the snake and the woman, and where the lizards are in this picture. Razz

Anyway, the reference thing is a good idea, plus don't be so comitted to this version of the picture or this pose. Work with the idea a bit more and it should turn out well. It kinda looks like you used reference on the girl (espescially considering the detail of the snake) So work it out a bit more in thumbnail sketches. They dont' have to be anything more than stickmen and twisty lines. From there look up reference of the snake and the woman in the pose you like and set it up that way.

You look like you could turn this into a great picture, so I would just encourage the exploration already started. But don't forget the advice that we give you.

Wink
