This was my entry for cgtalk.com's GRAND Space Opera - Challenge, witch I finally got finished. (3 hours before the deadline, swetting my ass off in the middle of the night) Very Happy
There actually was plenty of time to make this picture, but cause I wasn't very satisfied of the composition, I wasn't very inspired of making this.
But since I was involved to this contest, I thought to finish it anyway.
The painting had to be done in 300dpi A4 size, so there was plenty of work included on the way. Swet and blood actually. Razz

Oh, and if you manage to figure out what kind of composition would've worked better. I'm all ears.

Here is the printable version. (about 10Mb)
If someone could mirror this, I would be most grateful. If the link doesn't work, my bandwith limit is propably full, so try again next month.

Here are some work in progress pictures. Hope you learn some thing from them.. I did.

I can't imagine how long it took you to do..
There is some nice texture and details, but I can't really comment anything because I just can't get trough with those characters... Man I'm so sorry to say this but you really have some serious issues with anatomy.

Ok I will say this in Finnish: Opettele anatomiaa, koska se on ehdottomasti heikoin lenkki sinun tysssi. Vilkaiseppas taiteilijat nimelt Brom ja Frazetta, niist pset alkuun. Unohda kaikki anatomiakirjat, ne on kuivaa roskaa.

I hope I didn't sound like a complete ass.
Good luck and keep working hard!

So, once again, I must thank you for being so honoust, and for giving some real and valuable criticue. That's a rare thing, belive me on that.

Hey i want to speak finnish too Very Happy
m muistan kun s postasit tn kuvan tonne syndikaattiin, m olin (ja olen vielkin Wink) kateellinen sun kykyyn piirt maisemia/taustoja, mutta m pystyin lohduttautumaan sill ett m osaan anatomian (ainakin omasta mielestni) paremmin kuin s. Lllll Razz

but seriously, im with Freebooter in that when learning anatomy u shoud forget those anatomy books (they are too expensive anyway) ..instead search some nude/bodybuilding/wrestling/dance.. photos from the net and start copying!

still its great pic exept for the anatomy of course Wink

PPPppeteee! Joo moi. Smile

Id agree with the anatomy. It seems that you have the anatomy going much better in the wip-pics, but the final pose just sucks. Wink doesnt look natural at all.

Ill try point up some other things before ill get endrunkened by this glgi.

First of all. thats great pic. its rich in details and stuff. so much to look at. but i dont like the basic idea and the composition. im not into shooting pics, theres so much of it that i think its not too original idea, seems bit childish. but if the shooting is really the important thing, there should be something to shoot at. we cantt see what hes shooting, so theres not much of tension.

The female figure is funny.

but hey, great pic. good depth in the background and....well... great pic. couldnt have done better my self.
