hi guys,
haven't posted in what seems like ages. here is one that I put together yesterday:
Ganehsa, the destroyer of obstacles in Hindu mythology. But not the cuddly, potbelliied version that you usually see...

datatragedy: its hard not being inspired by samurais .. and since your pic is dealing the same subject its automatically cool =).. a tip would be to get used to a simpler brush.. regular round brush is fine..once u get that favorite brush its much easier to directly hit the canvas with your ideas instead of wasting time trying out all em costum ps-brushes.. idunno its just something i felt ive been through alot earlier.. and dont let the time be any limit... instead of stopping after 40 min... go ahead and hit the painting 40 min more exploring shapes/colors etc... sometimes i spend houurs just slapping the canvas without even coming up with something in the end that im happy with and is worth saving... allthough the session didnt result in any jpeg's for show it doesnt mean i wasted all that time for nothing... i did paint all those hours after all... but do save your work often.. its nice to have images to look back on so u know that you've been good n creative when the days come when juice is running low. And also.. i know it can be tough posting your work in a place like this.. it isnt easy getting attention and to feel appreciated (allthough everyone is!) around here with all the cg-cats =).. oekakisites, paintchats, smaller forums and i guess devianart is nice places to get fast-healthy feedback.. its very important. Work your ass off... and spam!.. creative-spam aint a bad thing. I guess these tips goes for alot of ppl.. including myself. // aaaw.. went to faar..kill_me, tired >_>

ax--hv and capt. Fred, I'm honored by your overpaints (?).

annisahmad:Thx. Like yours too, but the water itself is a bit too bright.
spooge: Hawhaw! Yo, thats ..er..fat. Brilliant as always.
zhuzhu: *clap* ..right...you mentioned that already, of course its PS.... Stupid me.See?: Nooooclou.
deepsea: Lllllllove it!
Rasseltassel: Good to hear someone having similar problems. Maybe next time when im searching a picture for hours and hours just to finally give up on it i will not feel that useless anymore. Thanks for sharing.
P-Rik: Thats better. Maybe a few more dots in the distance. Nice colours.
Freebooter: Thank you. Your conan looks good, only his left arm seems to be a tad too skinny. On the other hand, thats not his sword arm...hehe.
SIS: Cool, vivid stuff.
Cheers

Awesome stuff, everyone.
Spyroteknik: That image with the person looking out the window is just fabulous. It's my new background image.
Freebooter: I'm really liking your figures. A lot of style there. Reminds me of Shinkawa(metal gear solid artist) a little.
Watmough: Crazy cool stuff. Your use of texture and color is outstanding.
Rasseltassel: Nice samurai you got there. Where do you go for your paintchat sessions?
Spooge: Each iteration of the baron you go through gets more and more disgusting. This last one really takes the cake. Btw, I sent you an e-mail the other day. If you get a chance to read it, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks!
I realize I've broken the 'paint to post' rule. I apologize. I'll post something soon to make up for it. |

Value study on my egg-timer. The top ridge is out of prospective, but I think I'll go eat rather than fix it. The worbely circle also reaffirms my sanity.

I tried drawing zhuzhu-style but it went to hell.
Then I tried something else. And I think I'll stick to this until I become good at it.

description;
about 1 hour and 10 mins between writing checks for bills...
i pretty much painted alot of the stuff (erasing the bakground including the people, buildings, and house) and painted the clouds, the planets, and overpainted the trees to give it a 'thick' forest feel. foreground, i added some foam... for the Sketch of the Week VFX Matte Painting war...

The Spoils of War:
others seek material gain, the forces of chaos want only the remains of the fallen. Taken from the battlefield, the carcasses rise again to the slaughter.
Critique welcome. Pls help with lighting.
Thanks.
