I made this drawing using my buddy shenanigan's tablet, and now one of my other friends has been trying teach me a technique about moving the lineart to a seperate layer so that I can create the color under the lines by using select>color range...
I cant seem to get it to work, but I wanted to know if anyone had some advice on what to do with this piece:

I like the drawing of the humanoid type thing.
To colour under the line art:
Set the line-art layer's blending mode to 'multiply' to turn it into an OHP-style transparency:
- If the layer with your drawing on is the background layer, then double click it and hit enter to turn it into a regular layer. Then set the blending mode (top of the layers palette) to multiply. Then make a new layer (for your colouring), put it beneath the line art layer and get colouring.
You can get similar results using masks, but this has got to be simpler.
If u have any problems I can do it for you and e-mail it. |

Thanks so much! This will simplify things for me, working on the BG now.
And FitTod, I drew him nude because it looks a little odd to have him with pants, lol. |

The other option in future would be to create a new file in photoshop with background colour set to white, then create a new transparent layer on which to draw the lineart itself, thus keeping the two entirely separate. |

i think contrast is missing in this peice...the pillow doesn't seem affected by the force put on it...which is shown through shadows and highlights etc...try using a real life replica of the hand and pillow and see how it bends and twist and flattens. _________________ mercer |

Adding cast shadows to the scene will increase the three-dimensionality a lot. |

Alright I'll work on the cast shadows tonight and adjust the contrast, I just need everything to tie together, I'm even considering a burn layer with a few faint strokes to add some soft of clear effect, not sure |

nah no layers...try to render using one layer. Unlike digital art, most of the times one cannot simply create new layers or delete/adjust layers independently. You have super high contrast in the which is going to throw off the contrast as a whole. You can add contrast through the use of the color wheel not only by simply darkening things _________________ mercer
