I got a bit tired of not coming across any programs that allow displayment of vanishing points as guides, so I coded a quick and ugly (and extremely bug-riddled) drawing application that allows positioning of vanishing points (currently two of them) for sketching accurate perspectives. It has no other interesting drawing features, so the workflow is something along the lines of sketching and screencapping. Oh well, maybe some of you will have it come in handy. Hitting the delete key removes all lines.
As for the headache-inducing line flickering, I'm working on removing it. Flash doesn't seem to appreciate my code currenly. Oh well. Now, if only somebody would code something like this for PS or Painter...
Enjoy, unless your brain explodes.

Hehe, nice idea
This shows how damn difficult it is to make straight lines with wacom. Maybe you should have a shift-click option for straight lines, bigger rez and undo as well. The next thing you notice, you've done your own Photoshop |

You're reinventing the wheel.
http://www.andromeda.com/ Perspective filter, $50
I think all it does is warp 2D objects.
There's a better one made for Illy, it's $180, but it gives you gridlines.

make a one point grid on a 15 inch by 15 inch 200 dpi and define it as a brush in photoshop. also fade out the center if you find it to dark. use rotate to match up lines if you have trouble matching lines for a horizon. ta da! |

chrusher, i still find your program more intuitive/innovative than the grid method or even 3d plug-ins.. i can definitely imagine a nice tool in photoshop that lets you alt+click multiple vanishing points and then produces two lines attached to the brush and the VPs. thin grids i've used disappear at high revolutions or else cover too much of the picture for me, and i often have several grids i use for lighting too.. having a saved set of VPs would be wonderful, and save so much time/guesswork...

PS. i think this is an idea worth suggesting to adobe and corel.. wonder if you could make any $ if u already had a sample in C++ or somethin? _________________ Sorry! for any digressive, pompous, or just plain off-topic rants. |
