You believe that G-man is Gods right hand or what?
I don't know about that... It would be cool, but then why didn't he have any authority to give Freeman any info about this wierd stuff. If he was God he could easily make him do things he didn't want. It's more likely that he is satan or something.
Plus.. in the first game he didn't have any superhuman powers.
And the fact that Freeman doesn't speak. Does it have something with the story to do? |
I think G is probably the projected avatar of some alien/extradimensional intelligence. He speaks like he's not quite human. And he does have some power . . . I mean, he puts Gordon on the train at the beginning, and stops time at the end. And he teleports all over the place. Did you try to follow him at the dam when you see him watching you? He walks behind a corner and when you follow he's just gone.
It occurred to me that he could just be a figment of Gordon's imagination, but you see him talking to other characters at a couple points in the game.
I believe Valve has said that the reason for Gordon not speaking is to keep the game as immersive as possible. Hearing him speak would be a reminder that you aren't really Gordon (unless your voice happened to sound like his ). _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Now that you say it...it's very likely that G-man is a projection that an alien race created. Either to help or lure Freeman. I think it would be a better story if Gordon helped the aliens to take over the earth or something without knowing.
Well... you certainly gave me other thoughts. _________________ Some people are bad. That is because many people are better. |

The version I like is the one that has G-Man working for the Combine in HL1. I posted a few ideas about it here:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=220303
It didn't seem too popular though. Most people prefer the one that is a simple fit of the major plot points, but I was never keen on that one because it doesn't make sense if you take character motivations into account (plus it's kinda dull compared to some others).
But all the theories have their strengths and weaknesses. They all require some tweaking of the facts to fit. Can't wait to find out what the truth is, although I'm worried that won't be 100% consistent either. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

Great game...a little bit to lineair in Level-design. Would be cool if there are several ways to escape ravenholm, nova prospect,...
I actually do like the ending. They try to take away your weapons but Ooops, something goes wrong. Something wich wasn't planned and you gain this God-like status. Chunck a screen of the wall, launch it at the combines, pick one up toss 'm at the others,...Blast them, Get some Dark energy...Ooh remember those big liquid pillars in the Citadel. If you chunk a Combine in it -or something- else it just goes in SloMo...Wooo...Or how you must use the gravity gun to walk the infested-beaches -radioactive tunnel-...Its a game where you need to use your head once in a while -me like-. And it's filled with memorable moments. From the moment you embark in the station to the end...Time? is it really that time again?.....
Great game...Expectations where high...maybe to high but they did a great job. In terms of artwork, immersion, gameplay and balance.
BTW in Nova-prospect where you have 4 entrances and just 3 turrets.
I played this scene twice. First I made a stairs out of the crates and got onto the dead-end balcony...Let them come lob some grenades and you'll never loose health. -> Is actually kinda boring...The second one is way Cooler.
Place the turrests in their locker. Just pick 'em up Turn 'm around. Place yourself in the empty locker, put the shotgun in your hands and let em come.
The wall will be splattered red afterwards...HAHahaha.
Anybody seen the Boat previews talked about? _________________ Dreams R free |

I dont know who else noticed this, but I liked when the guy at the end who tries to steal the grav gun is speaking to that large creature in the monitor about him changing bodies to accomodate for something or other... that sent me thinking... great game overall. Leaves you thinking in suspense. |
