Looks good so far and not so silly as the last few Batman films

Well...
It does look like the first "serious" batman film to ever be made. Not one trace of a clown or leather wearing cat anywhere.
...and it also looks quite interesting...if you ignore the fact that the intro to the trailer makes no fucking sense.
Why the hell is Batman in Japan being hit with bamboo sticks? he's not a god damned ninja... he's from GOTHAM (which is basically New York). He doesn't need to be in foreign lands, scaling frozen mountains, learning martial arts blind-folded or any of that other crap. He's American. It's just kung-fu-filler.
"Yo, I'm Bruce wayne, a millionare child with dead parents... no one raise me, so I'm in Japan becoming a ninja to battle ganstas in my hood. maybe one day I'll find out the truth about my parents and not have to wear this vinyl suit with sculpted nipples. I'm scary when I wear it."
It's just not as simple and mysterious as the Batman story I remember. |

Batman was a master of Karate and Judo and I think Ninjitsu in the comics. That's how he could kick any bad guy's ass in hand-to-hand combat.
He needs to learn krav maga, though. He could kill anyone just by poking them in the throat.
Also, I didn't watch the trailer, but I'm excited as hell for the movie. Finally, Batman as a character drama, instead of vomitescent neon batnipples and batbuttocks. Christopher Nolan is a competent director, too. _________________ QED, sort of. |

Zach: hahah.
All fine and well...but what crime fighter Doesn't know how to fight? They don't all go to foreign lands to get hit with sticks... They usually just start fighting suddenly, become a competition fighter or are some freak of nature (which obviously means they gain ninja skillz).
Yahoo Search: Batman Goes to Japan = No, he does not. :D |

my batman trivia knowledge extends only as far as bruce timm's tv episodes would show me... but they did hint at batman's judo masters n such, whom he knew (and actually re-visited) from japan... the dude's fuckin rich, makes perfect sense to me that he spent it all traveling to reach his greatest strength. i like the movie for the reason u dont, hamster... it'll show us how batman got himself started, hopefully still w/o us knowing exactly why or what the hell's goin on in his head.
anyways, i'm wetting my pants, and christian bale was a bad-ass in american psycho, i say he'll do fine as batman ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ Sorry! for any digressive, pompous, or just plain off-topic rants. |

Hamster - the actual story has Bruce Wayne leaving Gotham and training extensively in the east. He committs his life to empowerment through the martial arts, yet he still feels he doesn't have the "edge" or element of fear in fighting crime. He recalls this incredible fear as a kid after falling into what becomes the Batcave; he encounters bats and remembers how fearsome they were.
