I have used the coined style of Adi Granov in my work (even before I knew about him) but his is much tighter and just all around better.. I have always had one problem that he doesn't seem to have. HIGHLIGHTS. with the style he uses in his way overclicked and popular tutorial for
"Ironman #1" ---->http://www.sofos.com/adi/
you can see that his highlights and contrast are beautiful. Mine always end up comming out flat, with mostly mid tones and darks. Not very colorful. and almost nonexistant Highlights. WHAT ON EARTH AM I DOING WRONG? _________________

Adi Granov is amazing. I remember doing this tutorial a super long time ago... actually one of the first digital coloring tuts I ever did.
Easy answer - After you got your colors down, flatten the image and use the dodge tool (highlight mode)... otherwise known as step 10 in his tutorial.
And don't be afraid to throw in some more steps and change it around... make the tutorial work for you and help you, not constrain you... actually I'd continue working when he ends his tutorial and put in some more color to make the art more alive and vibrant. |

skrubbles, thanks very much for your input. I am definately going to try that. do you still use this style of digital artwork?
I think it's nice because you get the best of both worlds. _________________

not anymore... I've only done this method a few times... recently I've been working all digitally, from initial sketch to final render. |
