This is from a series of figure compositions I do without reference test my anatomical knowledge. I do these "Tre Grazie" exercises on a regular basis to point out my weaknesses ~~~

yes I still do figure-drawing every week.
rule on these, -u are not allowed to lift the pen so strokes back and forth is a necessity, hmm I am rambling again *cough *snif.

@The Bone Doctor : what's these "Tre Grazie" exercises ?

@varnum: that's nice, do you happen to post on conceptart.org with a different nickname ?

20 min ink + brush, first time I use brush so crits are welcome

(I messed up her left arm, it's resting on the back of the chair.. no eraser! Very Happy )

wow-- first off--- i just started reading/follwing this particular thread.. and let me say this: 'there's a lot of good talented artist's out there! it's actually quite daunting to see so much GOOD talent.. it kinda makes ya feel insignificant! ..but it also really INSPIRES you to want to create, too!)

so.. i'll be posting shortly, too! ('cause now i'm inspired!)

great work everyone.. keep 'em coming!

XIA: i love your quick gesture sketches!

Matthew: wow.. very nice.. your free flowing line quality is very hypnotic!

varnum: great use of simple, but very effective lines!

reakshun: amazing work.. especially considering it's 'out of the head!' wow..

spooge: what can i say that hasn't been said? ..you're the best of the best and you always amaze and inspire me!

thanks, all..

chat with you soon..

geki: thanks. Rhythm is so important with the brush pen.

fred: thanks also. How long were those life drawings?

First two done on Sunday at an art seminar. The last 3, yesterday in a hospital waiting room. Don't ask. RAW from the book with some ladies borrowed pencil. Pffft!

xia: forgot to mention, those gouaches are pretty cool.

reakshun, those were 2 mins.
I usually do the 2 minute ones, because the longer poses are lying down, and I find that about 10 times harder!

Just this once, i said balls to accuracy, and went with the flow, no attempt to measure or judge. I like some of what happened.

Beautiful paintings! If you don't mind my asking - what is your connection to the work? Is the painter still around?

cheers

the guy went to my highschool.I never talked to him in highschool, in fact i think he graduated a year before i got to highschool. But one of my friends knew him very well ( he also went to Lyme Academy) and i was invited over to Hollis's house to see some of his stuff, ever since ive been a huge fan of his work.
