I am serious considering about buying a low-price color laser printer. I know that color laser printers are not as good as ink jet in terms of picture quality, but I really want to churn out a whole bunch of color works in relatively short time period.
I am not looking into printing tabloid sized pictures of course. The printing speed doesn't have to be that fast. But the quality of printing is sorta important. Any suggestion? Looks like HP printers are very affordable on pricegrabber.com. _________________ Human mind is the battlefield of good and evil. |

I just purchased a Dell color laser printer that has a built in network card (so it is hooked up directly to my home network and not directly to any computer). This thing is huge, and weighs about 70 pounds. (model number is the 3100CN). The price (including shipping & no tax) was $375. I had been looking at the Minolta as well, but could not pass up this deal at Dell.
As far as picture quality goes, I have to say that I was "blown away" with the quality. I never expected to get that kind of output from a cheap color laser. Admittedly, it is nowhere close to the output of my Epson 1270 dye inkjet printer or my Epson 7600 pigmented inkjet printer, but it was still very surprisingly good. I haven't had a chance to fool with the color settings or adjustments that are available, nor have I made an ICC profile for this printer yet (waiting to find a paper that I really like). But for noncritical quick and dirty output, it is definitely a consideration. |
