matthew i like to see how u got better the last months. sometimes i still wonder about ur style. for me it seems like u sometimes just toss in some lines randomly. they dont make sense for me. they dont define any shape..they are just there with no reason. _________________ quit pro quo |

I wonder if there is anything you dont do conceptart for, spooge. Or am I mistaken and that is not a deep one from the upcoming Call of Cthulu game? |

Spooge, the textures you achieve are so amazing, I'm just floored. I wish I could dance like you can, your a huge inspiration.
But Am I crazy or does that picture have an owl head with a fish in its mouth embedded in the face? anyone else see it?
I don't have a finished pic, just an oldie that was never finished. anatomy is wonky. crits welcome.

Spooge, Matthew, ax--hv, P-Rik, Gecko, great!
Lots of cool stuff too, don't feel left out guys, I'm just too lazy to check who did what today.
About the seven universes, I found it very amusing when I read that, and I had to paint something (value study, from ref!) to post my opinion about multiple universes, but I got lost in my painting, and forgot my point. Oh well. One step closer to becoming senile.
I have a nasty simplification inability. _________________ What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

My brother (Dennis Cheng) is the producer on Call of Cthulu. Isn't the world a small place? LOL (he's got a different last name because we only share the same mother.) |

About the Camera Obscura : Considered cheating or not, if it was only up to the physical abilities of a lense to create "great masterpieces", I am very suprised there isn't a whole lot more of them in circulation. (Goes for both masterpieces and lenses.) Anyone who ever get ahold of one or have enough spare energy to make your own, try using it. I dare you.
Here's what I whipped together tonight, along with this, which took a little more attention to really be counted a speedy (too lazy to post it seperately). It came out a little travis charisty in colours/technique I guess, which I'm not really against, it just wasnt intentional. I had no real aim starting out, just refless stab in the dark. The other ones were just for fun so I don't forget how to draw during all my 3d studies..

Trying out brushes that aren't round - Yay, something new! takes some getting used to, but interesting. I like the litlle bit with the smoke off the burning arrow in the front - the not-round brush seems to work well for that little effect.
Same old subject matter though... another battlefield littered with arrows and things. |

This is a can of worms, funny stuff all over. But at least I can see that. That is something. I am beginning to get a rough picture of the immensity that I don't know.
Ballistic, scumworks, ax-hv, swarm, p-rik, thanks!
I had not thought about it before, but that monster was the perfect image for my rant.
Gecko I know what you mean, sometimes it can beat you bloody. I always learn something really important if I ever do solve it, something big and important that I was ignorant of (like noses are in the middle of the head...)
Capn fred, oh yeah, that one. I tried to find the original file and it's gone. Just the crappy JPg left. Really you liked that one? It is pretty crude. The neck is a piece of PVC.
Fab, eyewoo, thanks for.. understanding. If I turn up missing you know who probably did it.
Gliterbug, yes that is right. I did the box art.
Octavian, I don't see it???
Thanks, pato, I can imagine how bad that thing must smell. I did model the mouth after piranha
Llama, come on over... |

I have some problem with nude ... i need to practice more exercice about colour and lighting .
I tried on this one to simplify the shapes to catch the more information...

Camera Obscura part 2, I should probably leave it alone. I am usually
nowadays avoiding discussions also even in reallife, I know and accept
people will have different opinions and I don't really wanna force anyone
in any direction.
But, I guess if one share ones view one should be homefree from the part
of trying to convince the other part what and how they should think.
Anyway, I saw drunken muse mention one thing. Let's just say I was
to make a masterpiece with this Obscura tecnique and with an awesome
result. Would this make me a better artist? When is someone a good
artist? If one think about it and the method in their hands they probably
used it more than less. And they probably didn't use it all the time or in
the whole piece but really detailed patterned cloth and difficult parts was
probably easier to trace than to do from life and whatever. This was what
took away the magic for me.
Reference usage I am ok with though cause then u are doing your own
translation, but I wouldn't wanna rely on it in my finished pieces or
sketches, as a learning tool reference is great, I should have been more
clear about this but I was way to upset some pages back.
To get back to that would this make me a better artist question in a
different context. Let's just think about it in terms that can be seen a lot
in here. Really detailed pieces seem to get the most attention and with
the comment from someone "this is your best piece so far"and don't get
me wrong I don't wanna step on someones toes, just questioning when
and if a piece makes the artist worse or better or leave the artist at the
same stage as before. Something I really have questioned myself too, am
I really better at this stage or am I worse or at the same point as usual?
As u know by now I like to treat things differently and that is a risk I am
taking for sure but why not as an artist choose the difficult path? or make
things difficult for yourself, maybe is better in the end or maybe worse
we will see.
Spooge, all this theoretical and structure about methods and varied
brushstrokes u mentioned earlier. May I ask why u choose not to add it
to the oil painting u had there with the trees? Do you want to solve it a la
prima? or is it because of something else? Cause I know from your digital
work and from previous mentioned theory that u know where the problem
is but choose to not fix it. I resemble that u said something similar once
about another oil piece and now I am mostly curious why u are not doing
the changes in later paintings.
ok the last of my rambling for a long while, feel free to add your thoughts
about things after my message and if you hate me by now feel free to say
so aswell.
have a nice day

I really wanna thank everyone of you for your nice comments and all feedback given to me, it is just amazing and I am not used to be treated this way, the kind way, always had a rough time through whole my life. Many thanks again guys.
math, they are there to give depth, sometimes they can take on a form and sometimes they don't, all experiment for me to see how I can treat things differently.
P-Rik, hehe I thought everyone have heard me ramble the age thing and me feeling old all the time, now what was I gonna say...hmm, ah yea hehe. the age. I am 27 years old of age I wage. Many thanks there for your comment, I see lots of improvement in your latest works, I just keep forget to tell people I like their pictures, haha must be the age.
Pato, wuw many thanks, u know you are really a big inspiration to me, lovely wc's that u do. thanks and keep it up.
ok a nasty cramp in my fingers so I better stop typing, thanks again everyone for the comments. keep it up everyone.
