i signed up for an account here quite a while ago but have never been brave enough to post any of my work.
since i'm going to go to an art school for college i have to get over the fear of showing my work...so here it goes.
this is a painting of my dad from long before we met each other...i'm going to give it to him as a present for his birthday (in decemeber). i used a photograph from 1978 as reference. i'm having trouble properly expressing the face (it's only the second face i've ever tried to paint) and thought i would turn to the vast experience of you guys for help.
i'm also a newbie at the whole uploading pictures deal.
any useful comments and critiques are greatly appreciated and treasured.

To be honest, it looks like you just ran an automated "painting" filter over a photograph. His face isn't showing up because the filter doesn't know face from background.
Maybe I'm wrong though. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

no filters were used in the making of this painting. i used the gouche brush and a pointed stub blender (care of painter to create it. the face looks funny because i'm not really all that great with faces, they always end up looking a little funny and i don't know why.
