does this look like the character is in motion? if so, in what direction? What does it look like he's doing (or about to do)? Also, I have the nagging suspicion that his ...right arm (the one behind his back) might be bending in an incorrect way: does it look right to you?
I also am about to get to work on this sketch (I realize there's almost nothing to it at the moment, but I figure that if there's already a problem with it NOW, then i had better fix it). Anything look particularly wrong?

Well, the guy looks like he's moving. Not too much but he is. To me, it looks like he's moving to the right, as if he's jumping over a fence and is at the peak of the jump and is slightly using his arm to get him over. Don't think that was what you were aiming for though.
The arm doesn't look like it's bending weirdly, it is. I think that if you want his shoulder to be were it is, his elbow must come down, closer to the back, on the other hand, if you want his elbow extended that much then his shoulder must moveup and to the right. Also, I'm sure there's a scapula in there.
Lastly the sketch. First of all you character is not 8 heads tall. Not that it is a requirement it just looks it. Now, unless your drawing a dwarfish character or you like him to have short arms, you'll have to make his arms a little longer. And last but not least, his legs. I don't think anyone would stand with his pelvis extened outward like that and have the legs locked and side by side. If your trying to make a soldier of sorts standing with attention and saluting with his weapon, his upper body must be expanded a little and a little extended outwards from the pelvis. You might also want to make his head look straight ahead. But, I don't really know what you want to do so... |

yea, it looks like the guy is moving. looks like he is doing some kind of roll. His other arm looks like it's grabbing something, like a ninja star or something. _________________ I just realised that my screen name is Wagner, but my last name is Wagner, I'm not making any references to anyone. |

The guy in the top pic looks to me like he's gonna spin around to the left (our left) and come around and end up on the right (our right) like he's gonna kick someone or something. Maybe he's just changing direction. The arm behind his back looks like it's there for stability.
Now that I look at it again, he could also be falling forward?
The bottom pic looks ok, except the pelvis is pretty far out. Very uncomfortable to look at. I counted him to be about 8 heads tall, of course, I could be wrong. |
